We have nostalgia for a time when ownership of media was taken for granted, in addition to a thriving rental culture from video stores and libraries. Libraries can at least have video games to rent, which is pretty great.
Because as we age, we see that the corporations want to control ownership and access through digitalization, thus the only way we can rebel against that is to own things physically. Now to play MGS, you don't need to repurchase some digital anniversary reprint every 4 years. You own it.

I think this story is a really good example for people to look at when it comes to understanding bias at NYT. It's not that the reporter, Dana Rubinstein, says anything outright false. But the framing, word choices, etc., add up to an unprofessional and biased account.
