Unpopular take: I want there to be as much energy going into physical accessibility as there is going into digital accessibility. I don't want new software or AI tools hyped to me until we can get ramps, handrails, and accessible toilets. WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY.

Some of these things seem daunting to imagine incorporating in US schools (e.g., the anteroom) but others seem do-able and like they would have a positive impact (e.g., noise blockers, welcome support for newcomers).

But there were some differences in the built environment that stood out. For instance, there was a sink in the room with a dishrack filled with cups. Each cup had a child's name on it. There was also a side room attached to the main classroom. Aides went there to work with some children.

First, when we entered, we all took off our outside shoes. Some of the adults carry slippers with them to put on, but many were in socks. The children were in socks or barefoot.

Honestly, from all my discussions with other women, everything I read (and I read a lot) there is no sure thing when it comes to what helps each woman. All the pausal things are so unique and specific for each individual, that what works for one woman, might not work for another woman. It's tricky.

Critical thinking is under serious threat from large language models/AI. Uni administrators are too prone to accept tech hype! (plus it can be wrong, steals IP, has devasting environment/energy impacts). @jessicacalarco.com made a great one-pager I share with students (plus effective model of comms)

The American War on Iran Living through the fallout from the US war on Iran and its larger regional impacts

When an actuality the thing that is unsafe is the American government.

It is wild how many people legitimately don’t get that a 15 second video is not a meaningful source of information. The move from text to video in terms of how information is communicated has really been a boom for propaganda and general nonsense.

Strongly suspect that as this war and its negative effects escalate, we're gonna see a massive increase in disinfo and unsourced "news" - starting right the hell now.

PLEASE don't share "breaking" news from rando or disreputable accounts who provide no links.

A little perspective about the war on Iran from two teachers in the UAE. Thankfully we are safe.

An electorate that largely can't be bothered to pay attention to anything happening outside its borders and that's only motivated by movements in the price of gas and eggs is going to be the end of us all

Warning from the Ministry of Defense. UAE air defenses are currently responding to incoming missile and drone threats from Iran. The Ministry asserts that the sounds heard of the result of air defense systems into something missiles and drones. The public are requested to adhere to safety and security instructions issued..

The local authorities are giving a master class in public communication and emergency management.
