The Draft Plan covers lots of important things such as homes, jobs, parks and open spaces, community facilities, schools, sports facilities, health centres, and transport.
Hastings Local Plan consultation: 'Your Town, Your Future' — have your say on the town's plan to 2041.
Out and about in town today? Head to Priory Meadow between 10am and 2pm to find out more about the Draft Local Plan and ask Planning Policy officers any questions you have about the consultation.

We are continuing to offer support to rough sleepers this winter including support to find a longer-term home.
• People can access free laundry facilities
• Last entry 10pm. People do not need to approach the council in order to access this SWEP provision.
• Three hot meals a day will be provided at no cost
• People can access free shower facilities
The centre will provide dorm style beds with freshly laundered pillows and duvets, with space available for those who need a quieter room.

The council has been working with Warming Up The Homeless to provide a place of overnight safety for rough sleepers during the severe weather.

The Severe Weather Emergency Provision (SWEP) has been activated in the Hastings Borough Council area from Friday 13 March 2026 and will remain active until further notice.

The Great British Spring Clean is the nation’s biggest mass-action environmental campaign, with more than 400,000 volunteers taking part each year to help clean up their local communities.

The draft Plan explains how new development can help improve and protect existing open spaces, sports and recreation facilities where it creates extra demand.

The Local Plan needs to balance new development with protecting our parks and open spaces and the unique character of the coastline and countryside. These places are important for health, wellbeing and community life.

We are running a cycling survey to find out more about why people cycle in Hastings, and why you don't. We want to know if there are any barriers that stop you getting out on two wheels more, and if there's anything we can do to help make getting on your bike easier.
