NO a good thing! The Night Sweeps the Mountains Away by Tanvir Ahmed, I am *wrecked* in the best ways!
Also props for your typesetting choice on that Q.
WHAT DID I JUST READ
So I have thoughts about this book and I will be processing them for a long time. Bravi. BRAVI. Do you need to scream? Go get it from @dancingstarpress.com. #BookSky
At the back of Hornytown Chutzpah there is a tongue-in-cheek glossary of Yiddish terms used in the novella. This is a sampling.
7 days until Hornytown Chutzpah's book birthday
It still tickles me no end that @jenniferhudak.bsky.social read it and said, "That's fantastic! I love it!"
That's right! My glossary has its own blurb 😆
Here's a sampling.
I will try to be more helpful in a moment when I recover but HOLY FUCK, @greeniezona.bsky.social, HOLY FUCK.
The Night Sweeps the Mountains Away by Tanvir Ahmed, out on my back table.
Well I’ve got a @dancingstarpress.com book so I’m sure as heck gonna read it. Hmm it says there’s tangy blood. I can do it. Will report back.

And no this doesn't include things like the two letters in support of Palestinian writers or all my other quiet help, advocacy, uncredited work, etc. I will continue to do those quietly, just like a whole lot of people do. Peace.
I think I've got THE REVEAL ready to go over on @atthisarts.com but while I was in the html, I figured I'd update my Bibliography with editorial and organizational work, so you can see what I've been up to the last ~7 years.
I'm not a "big deal" but I'm also not a rando.
Know that when I talk.
A crop from a larger watercolor illustration depicting two black cowboys on horses. They are leaning towards in an intimate way, and there is a faint rainbow in the sky above them.
A teaser of my finished painting for @taplingzines.bsky.social's

I just realized I should have waited to be out of the sight of the dentist’s office first.
“Did you see that? Miss Bell just left here and did a little dance.”
…
“She is so strange.”
Then a joke about those gold teeth.
Ooh - at the dentist now I’ll have to add a twirl for that on the walk home. Livernois won’t mind.
Holy hell I’ve heard two happy things in the last day! I don’t like to vague post but I know a lot of you want me to be happy.
Also an unrelated - but Also Happy - surprise for you later over at @atthisarts.com
What is this feeling
Is it hope
Oh wait I had that
I think this is … joy?
I have insight, expertise, and bravery, and when any of that that is valued somewhere that’s where I’ll go.
I’m not going to convince people who are determined to smear me because if they don’t they’d have to admit they were complicit in abuse.
Look I would *love* to have these conversations about how we actually improve publishing and that’s why I’m banned everywhere. That’s not a conspiracy that’s the oldest same old playbook. Pointing to shit I said one time at my absolute low point that they caused doesn’t change that, it furthers it.
Offering solutions gets you banned because a lot of people benefiting from the power structure don't actually want change.
Or at least, change in theory, but not any change that might affect them.
And that's not how lasting change works.
I know, I can't talk about any of the harm that's being done in our spaces anymore. For my health as much as anything.
However, I will not back down that change *is* possible and that the solution requires us to have adult conversations and not just abuse any women who try to nearly to death.
Given that he said I misrepresented the conversation, I'm pretty sure my offering to hold it again publicly is why I got banned from the upcoming local con, btw.
If open-letter offering to hold a public conversation is considered threatening we are not yet serious about any level of change.
Or the women they train to be armed bodyguards so they can appear oh, so nice.
Remember, I held a panel on fixing inequities in publishing, and I got mansplained, told to settle down, a hand continuously raised in my face, and told anyone not selling books is not writing things people actually want to read.
Whole room of witnesses.
Stop believing indignant men by default.
