I am coordinating a writing retreat for grads and postdocs (hooray for community building in science and the ability that use my event planning skills) but I have never actually been to a writing retreat so any tips you all have on how to make this successful would be much appreciated.

Minnesota really is a great place to be an extrovert πŸ˜„. I've had spontaneous conversations with friendly strangers outside the Aldi, at the DMV, at the bus stop etc.

Still thinking about yesterday's seminar about Indigenous Data Sovereignty and the idea that while open-access data and archives can help increase access to information, not all knowledge, data, and stories are for everyone. Ownership of data is essential to make sure it is used with shared values.

The favorite thing I learned from the MN Water Resources Conference is that there is no surface water that flows into Minnesota! Everything comes from rain or groundwater, and we are the headwaters for 3 major river basins flowing out to the Arctic, the Atlantic, and the Gulf of Mexico.

Excited to be at the Minnesota Water Resources Conference today! It is great to be in a group of over 900 researchers, regulators, managers, and engineers all here to learn what they can do to make Minnesota's water better.
