Maybe I just have a big ego (no maybe about it), but when I’m in various writing applications and am inundated with buttons that beg to let some uninvited AI parasite to “Write” “Revise” “Polish,” my only thought is: You wish you could do this as well as I do.

If you are an author or editor at *ANY* level -- from beginner to jaded old veteran like me, click through to the article Todd's posting about, take 2 minutes, and email them to let them know you opt out. Will save us all time having to mount yet a 577th class-action suit down the road.

A poster for the Textile Museum of Canada's fabric sale, with roughly quilted pieces scattered about. The sale is March 27-28th 2026 from noon to 5pm, and tickets are pay-what-you-wish. The Textile Museum's address is 55 Centre Avenue, Toronto ON M5G 2H5. Comrags gave us bolts & bolts of fabric to sell when they closed, and we've cut some of it into 2-3 metre lengths for grab & go and also have some still on the bolt that can be cut to order.

As a former NEH grantee, this makes me feel physically ill. My project never would have gotten past an AI DEI review--but *did* make it through several rounds of painstaking and time-consuming vetting by actual human experts, as did ALL the projects that this nobody defunded.

Sizing chaos
The inter-generational struggle to find clothes that fit more than a tiny portion of women
A great dataviz essay on clothes and the proportions of American women, including a section on the power of learning how to sew for your actual size and shape! #DHmakes #DHsewing

This is literally the point of fancy coffee places! I can get a plain cup of coffee at home or my local donut shop but sometimes a girl wants syrup and latte art.

Gravestone with daffodil (Yoksel 🌿 Zok at unsplash)
The Diocese of Oxford has warned against a social media trend in which well-meaning people clean gravestones in churchyards. They say “Many churchyard monuments & gravestones are made from soft stone such as Portland limestone or Bath stone, which can be easily harmed by harsh cleaning techniques.”

Pete Hegseth Blew Billions on Fruit Basket Stands, Chairs, and Crab
The Defense Department went on a $93 billion spending spree in 2025.
As millions of Americans were losing their SNAP benefits the Pentagon spent:
🔹️$6.9 million worth of lobster tails🦞
🔹️$15.1 million for ribeye steak 🥩
🔹️$2 million for Alaskan king crab 🦀
🔹️ and even $98,329 on a Steinway & Sons grand piano

This didn't happen. The perception that it did is largely based on fictional shows that were about rich people. Much more common was a household where one person (theoretically Dad in a het household) was the higher earner and paid the housing costs and the other paid utilities & food

34 countries allow mail-in voting, most of them in Europe. Every single state, red and blue, allows mail-in voting, though a few require an approved excuse. It was never an issue until Trump lost and needed a scapegoat.

We’re barely a week into Trump’s war and already his family has found a way to cash in.
