After a little casting around, I managed to track down my dad's model, now in the hands of his grandson, who will be an excellent custodian in the future. The model has picked up some battle damage over the years, but the Comet mystique still comes through in spades. Dad 😇 would be thrilled.

My dad saw the Comet when he was just a boy. They somehow managed to shoehorn into Lewis’s department store in Manchester after the plane returned to England. When he passed away at the ripe old age of 89, he still had a little model of the DH.88 on his night stand. Now *that’s* staying power. ❤️‍🔥
