Glad to be back in Mogadishu & working directly with our inspiring peacebuilders from Southwest State, #Somalia. They have done amazing work in their communities and we will continue to support their local efforts, working on the nexus between climate change, environmental degradation and conflict.
Janel spoke at Climate Talk 2025 Mogadishu yesterday, together with members of our insider peacebuilder network in #Somalia, to emphasise an environment-centred approach to peace and the need for partnerships aimed at building a climate-resilient Somalia.
Our insider peacebuilders in #Somalia organised a training to encourage the community in Jowhar to collaboratively contribute to environmental development through awareness raising on cleanliness and restoration, tree preservation and planting and social cohesion through youth sports.
Our Insider Peacebuilder Network in #Somalia hosted a community awareness workshop on peace and #ClimateChange that brought together 30 participants, including elders, youth, women and representatives from the district administration.

Last week, our team brought together a group of women leaders from #Somalia for a workshop on Women’s Peace Leadership and Network Building. Berghof has long supported and collaborated with the women through our conflict transformation and (environmental) peacebuilding work.
