How the lack of newspapers feeds a rise in local corruption. Our study also found that digital media sites didn’t make much of a difference.

Between 1996 - 2018, 65 major daily newspapers closed. These newspapers had the only resources to conduct serious local investigative journalism. Studies show that without these local journalists’ inquiries, corruption in the US has increased.

Trans people in Kansas received official letters saying their driver's licenses are immediately invalid. A new KS law revoked licenses of anyone who changed genders.

This also takes away their right to vote, since ID is required in KS.
