To our colleagues: we’re fighting for you.
To leadership: the path forward is clear. Work with us in good faith and do right by the people who make this work possible.
As we head into bargaining, we’re focused on outcomes that protect workers: fair severance, real options for those who want to remain, and dignity for everyone affected.
Our members power the systems that keep journalism running — from publishing tools to infrastructure to reader experiences used by millions. They deserve transparency, respect, and good-faith negotiations.
These layoffs never should have been attempted in the first place. But now that we’re here, the company has a responsibility to do what’s right for the people who built and sustain The Post’s technology.
Tomorrow, the Washington Post Tech Guild enters effects and decisional bargaining over the company’s illegal attempted layoffs of 76 of our colleagues. Our goal is to secure the best possible deal for our members: both those who want to stay and those who choose to leave.
AAJCollective members walked out of work today and are officially ON STRIKE until midnight!
Send a letter to Advancing Justice – AAJC management calling on them to negotiate in good faith & agree to an economic package that respects the staff:

Unit chairs at @baltsunguild.bsky.social & @pen-guild.bsky.social joined @middayonwypr.bsky.social to talk about their outlets' use of AI.
AI can be a tool to support journalists, but news organizations have deployed it in unethical ways without a human behind it.

Monday night after working hours, our members who are being targeted for layoffs by The Washington Post were locked out of their work devices, platforms and The Post building.
After decimating the organization, we are bargaining per our contract with management. We have featured testimonials from Post employees. Here’s some of them had to say. Here’s what these layoffs have done to us. #SaveThePost 🧵
This shows the true scope of these layoffs — and it’s deeper than numbers on a page.
These numbers aren’t just statistics. They reflect careers, communities, and a profound shift in who gets to shape the journalism and mission of The Washington Post.
Please note that this reflects the impact on Post Guild-represented employees only and the full company-wide impact is even greater.

We all want to Save The Post, want to do our jobs - but Vineet locked our members out of work platforms and the building this week.
Shame on Vineet.
This is despicable. After attempting to lay off almost 80 of our members illegally, The Post's Chief Technology Officer Vineet Khosla has tried to co-opt the #SaveThePost hashtag used by Tech Guild and @postguild members, community members, readers, and supporters to push back against these cuts.
The Post must now reverse course on violating the rights of their workers with illegal layoffs. CTO Vineet Khosla and Arc XP President Matt Monahan need to also be held accountable for their lack of courage and bad faith.
From the office to his own neighborhood, where on Thursday the Tech Guild posted fliers calling out his abysmal record as CEO and Publisher to demand accountability, we have been clear about the damage he caused.
The Washington Post cannot move forward under the leadership that caused this crisis. Will Lewis’s decisions drove the Post to this breaking point.
Will Lewis’s exit is long overdue. His legacy will be the attempted destruction of a great American journalism institution. But it's not too late to save The Post. Jeff Bezos must immediately rescind these layoffs or sell the paper to someone willing to invest in its future.
The public outcry has been clear: the people of D.C., the country and the world at large want the Washington Post at its full journalistic power and will accept nothing less.
Will Lewis brought the Washington Post to the brink of destruction. The company must rescind the layoffs immediately to rebuild trust with the workers who make The Post run. Our members should not be forced to pay for the failures of Will Lewis and Jeff Bezos, who put him in charge.
The Washington-Baltimore News Guild strongly condemns the layoffs announced today at The Washington Post. These cuts represent yet another blow to a newsroom that has already been pushed to its limits and a disservice to the readers who rely on The Post for rigorous, independent journalism.
The @edweekunion.bsky.social voted overwhelmingly to ratify their first contract!
For the first time, EdWeek is establishing a minimum annual salary & and all members will receive general 3% wage increases each December.
Congratulations to the EdWeek Union members!

#SaveThePost rally on Thursday ✊
Join us at noon ET to show Jeff Bezos that we are united in saying no cuts to The Washington Post!
ATTN: Today's arrests of Georgia Fort and Don Lemon are an escalation by this administration to criminalize press freedom under the guise of law enforcement.
The First Amendment is not optional, and journalism is NOT a crime. We demand their immediate release!

This image shows a logo of The Washington Post Guild and our statement: The Post Guild vehemently opposes any more cuts to the staff of The Washington Post. As we’ve seen in recent years, continuing to eliminate scores of workers who make this storied institution what it is only stands to weaken the newspaper, drive away readers and undercut The Post’s mission: to hold power to account without fear or favor and provide critical insight into communities across the region, country and world. If Jeff Bezos no longer supports that mission, then The Post and its readers deserve a steward who does. If you value The Post’s journalism and its renowned past — if you care about its future — we ask that you join us in our call to #SaveThePost.
#SaveThePost, Jeff Bezos.
