this is the worst cover of The Giver i've ever seen
A headline reading “Camel pageant thrown into chaos after 20 competitors disqualified for using hump-plumping injectables”
Yes everything is terrible but let’s not lose sight of the fact that someone has written the Headline to End All Headlines.
Rejected Mega Man robot master?

This is an attack Gillick Competence, and without a doubt the beginnings of an assault on the supply of birth control to young people.
I was 17 when I started taking HRT. If you’re over 16, then by English law you can legally consent to your own healthcare.
Terrified to realise that "two girls one cup" is a pretty good cryptic crossword clue for "Glass"
banker's dozen, surely?
It's mostly just regular bland writing with "believed to be" pasted in a few times whether or not it makes sense. Could be a very specific AI prompt, but I would guess extremely lazy human editing, just because even a Markov chain would know the word after "believed to be" is not "casualty"
ponterff
I've been running gdcparties.com for a few years now. Some shitty company BlueberryAI decided they'd just take all the source code for the work I've done and reskin it, advertising it as their own. Jokes on them...it was still linked to my events spreadsheet, and now their website looks like this 😉
Can we make "specs pest" happen?
A computer render of a robot arm playing chess. It's knocking the black king over with a white knight, which I'm taking to be an accident since that is not how you win at chess. It's a very photogenic position, and entirely legal, but I suspect the latter is by chance more than design because they did not expect anyone to overthink it like this
The position on the board without the extreme perspective of the real image. Black has two pieces and two (doubled) pawns, and a king in the middle of the board. White has all their pieces and four pawns, and I mean it's an unstoppable lead but only because they have seven pieces to two, there's no coordination to speak of. Lichess says this position has never been reached in a recorded game, although statistically that probably doesn't prove anything
Incidentally I think I've reconstructed the chess game from the photo and the robot is crushing it so hard it can't be playing anyone competent — it's mate in 4 (including the move being played) and white hasn't even lost a piece. So why has it walked its king right to b8? Is it showboating?
I have this silly pet theory that an AI agent will in fact go rogue and try to conquer humanity, not because it has "gained sentience", but because it's a prediction model whose training set includes decades of science fiction about AIs going rogue and conquering humanity
Screenshot of "your AI slop bores me" where I asked the "ai" for pizza-flavored pizza and they drew a slice of pizza with other slices of pizza on top
thank you I will treasure this

Keir's massive head will shoot helicopters to protect us
I feel like this sort of phrase used to be really common in UK politics until Nick Clegg accidentally Blazing Saddles'd it with "alarm clock Britain" and everyone just quietly stopped doing it
twin peaks title page but it says 'watery fowls' instead of twin peaks

Gorton and Denton by-election result:
GRN: 40.7% (+27.5)
REF: 28.7% (+14.7)
LAB: 25.4% (-25.3)
CON: 1.9% (-6.0)
LDEM: 1.8% (-2.1)
Green GAIN from Labour.
Starmer cannot argue now that the Greens are splitting the vote. He can't argue that Labour should continue pivoting to the right. His options are to abandon his entire political project, resign, or (what he will actually do) slowly shrink into a corn cob over the next three years
Oh shit this wasn't even close
The Greens got 14k votes and Labour and Reform got 10k each
In 2024 — two years ago — it was 18.5k Labour, 5.1k Reform and 4.8k Green. Labour's vote has halved. Reform's almost doubled. The Greens' *tripled*.
Hard to imagine a worse result for Labour than this
If you're calling in a "think tank" you've already admitted you don't trust AI for the one thing it's supposed to be able to do
Gawain the green knight opening a letter sealed with wax
Little Alex Horne in his studio chair with the caption "so a simple task: land a fair blow anywhere on the green knight. One year later meet him at the green chapel, receive the same blow yourself."
A cut to a wider shot showing Greg Davies in his throne turning to Little Alex Horne subtitled "Well surely no one just ran up and whanged his head clean off."
Cut back to Little Alex Horne subtitled "Let's see Gawain first."
Looks like the original has been swept away by the sands of time.
