I went to one of the smaller, more focused GDCs outside of CA back when they did those. The big things back then was the push for transmedia (tie-ins across other forms of media for making a shared universe) and mobile games.
Feels like GDC should’ve been viewed as a cautionary tale for trends.

For what this means, it's basically that the client began the process to make it a union game, alerting its cast that it would be union, but then did not actually complete the process to do so.
These notices can be rescinded should everything be fixed.

I have a theory that the US’s lack of universal health care is a big reason for its spiritual erosion. “If a waitress can’t afford to treat her appendicitis, is she really a worthy member of society?” It’s a sick way of thinking.
When your money goes into a system that, despite its flaws, has saved the life of you or someone you love at *least* once, it becomes much harder to ignore how a healthy society involves depending on each other to hold the ball.
