People are too used to treating politics like sports and it shows. Slap a wrist and tell people to not get hoodwinked into supporting imperialism.

Hence why I feel this trade deal is starting to show the cracks in NATO. If China invades Taiwan, that suddenly puts Canada strategically in an awkward position. Ultimately, they won't care. Canada is a colonizer like any other; they just like to say sorry before shooting you in the face.

Even If I know Taiwan was decendent from The Republic of China as they were pushed off the mainland by the CCP, that was nearly three quaters of a century ago. Times have changed and generations have passed. I don't know if I would like the repercussions of what could happen if they are invaded.

I believe Taiwan and its people have a right to govern themselves. If China invades Taiwan, beyond death and mayhem that will occur, will only spur more violence of the like. All this while this China / Canada trade deals occurs. Stepping on the fingers of those holding on for independence.

Im not sure what side I should be on with this. As a Canadian it's really just business and survival. It puts the country in a trade network between both Europe and China which makes Canada unappealing to attack and harder to break economically. I can imagine the people of Taiwan are unimpressed.

Hard disagree on that last part. The Democrats dug their own grave and enabled Isreal and the Palestinian genocide. Republicans are just rebranded evangelical christian brutes. They both serve the oligarchs and their perverse interests. You never actually had a democracy. You pretended to have one.

Both sides aren't "the same" in the sense that there IS a distinction you can draw between the guy who gives a domestic abuser a loaded gun and the domestic abuser who uses that gun to kill his spouse, but the outcome is nonetheless a joint effort

What happened makes it hard to think. I can not think of any words because of the what the u.s. has done. I wish I could offer more than just prayers as ive felt them as condescending and shallow when given out in leu of any actual answers. Of which I do not have. :(

What the US has done, in venezula, is the same as Putin has done to Ukraine ; attack another sovereign nation in violation of International law for material gain.
