But when it comes to Donald... yeeeeah. They repeatedly hawk the Barks and Rosa stuff in big collections and reprint them on/off because there is a VERY dedicated fanbase for those cartoonists, and they'll bring over newer European comics, but never Duck Avenger for very long.
I know for a fact that some of the Mickey comics they published in this magazine HAD to be from Topolino; there was some space adventure comic where the Mouseton characters got beamed up into a spaceship while trying to fly Pete to jail but for the life of my I can't find the name of it. It exists!
Disney is weird. They republished classic comics into the 90s & made entirely new comics based on the Disney Afternoon shows (Goof Troop, Darkwing, Rescue Rangers, etc. There was a big miniseries cross over in a Disney magazine here. Even established Talespin takes place decades b4 the other shows.)
There's -a- book in the American Disney Masters collection that has (exactly one) pre-PKNA Duck Avenger story (but the book itself is titled "Duck Avenger Strikes again", as if all the collected stories are about Donald's alter ego when it's not) that was a huge disappointment on my part to get.
I know, I think I have some of those issues in a box somewhere. To make matters worse, I don't think there's ever been an English omnibus of only the Duck Avenger stories, or a digital collection that I know of.
Pretty sure I have the PKNA fan scans SOMEWHERE but not the classics.
I never thought I would even remotely feel ripped off that we "only" got Darkwing Duck here in the States, but here I am...
