Text that reads: IPSA: Some Feedback (all negative) IPSA has not covered itself in glory β or done the public image of MPs any favours β in their decision to give MPs a pay rise of 5% (1.5% more than that assigned to staff), citing the βevolvingβ nature of the job. Chairman Richard Lloyd stated that MPs βare dealing with higher levels of complex casework, and abuse and intimidation towards MPs has been growing.β The increased levels of casework arenβt news to usβ¦ Indeed, itβs mostly us who are dealing with it. Itβs also mostly staff having to face the abuse. And as for the cost of living rising higher for MPs than for staffβ¦ weβd love to see the receipts. IPSA initiated calls for Office Managers over the past few weeks to talk through the budget proposals (although they were still a way off being confirmedβ¦), which only served to stoke tension among a group of people who are overworked, under-resourced, and always ready to deliver feedback. Attendees were accused by CEO Karen Walker of βbad behaviourβ (despite not, in fact, being 5-year-olds getting cranky after a long day), and left with the distinct impression that IPSA were telling staff how to do their jobs, without having very much insight into what those jobs actually entail. In a meeting TSR was in, one Office Manager βinvitedβ IPSA to join their office for a day and see how it works out. Now that really would be a listening exercise.
Really really excellent evisceration of IPSA's recent "bad behaviour" by my brilliant colleague @jensym.bsky.social in @thehousemag.bsky.social staff newsletter today.
MP staff morale and confidence in IPSA is extreeeemely low at the moment.
Of course we need an immigration system that is both credible and fair but what has been touted by the Home Office satisfies neither criteria. The idea of deporting children mimics Trumpβs ICE detention of children. (1/3)
It has become increasingly clear that X - a platform now actively producing explicit and abusive material against women and children - is not an appropriate platform to be using for our comms.
I will keep pushing for action from the govt & relevant authorities in this area.
Angelaβs life embodies the Labour movement.
She has made monumental changes for working people, from strengthening workersβ rights to building council housing. This work needs to continue.
We were founded to represent working people, that is what our Labour Party must do.
Iβm incredibly sad to see my friend Angela Rayner leave government.
We canβt now risk losing touch with who we are and who our party was founded to serve.
Whatever comes next, the Labour Party must speak to, deliver for and unite the country.
Thatβs what people asked us to do last year.
Choice alone does not ensure dignity - especially when not all choices are equal. We believe that the best way fully to honour each personβs dignity is to recognise and respect their life as part of our community, and to love, value and care for them throughout that life.
To often in this debate people have assumed that only those of religious conviction or conservative politics oppose assisted dying in principle. So I thought I would explainβ¦
So incredibly proud of my boss @sarahowen.org.uk. She has spent years of her career (long before Parliament) campaigning to have miscarriage recognised as a bereavement in the workplace. This is how you live through pain and use it to bring healing for others. β€οΈβπ©Ή
NEW: Minister Justin Madders confirms the government will add bereavement leave for those who have experienced miscarriage to the Employment Rights Bill in the Lords, after @sarahowen.org.uk's campaign. Thank you Sarah for your persistence and perseverance on this, it will mean so much to so many β€οΈπ

This is so lovely thank you π

I got nominated for an award but they spelled my name Jenny Symonds. Which of my nemeses did this?
Wembley way before the game
No goals last night but 78,000 voices making my ears ring just from the players coming onβ¦ the best feeling β¨
Just taking a moment to think about how normal it is now for women to have a job that is talking, writing, or presenting on football.
It was inconceivable not that long ago. There is much progress still to make, but I'm proud of all of them πͺβ½οΈ
I am not generally in favour of blasphemy laws but if you put a *mince pie* at the top of your Christmas Tree you deserve jail time

"As we approach the vote on assisted dying this week, Iβve been struck by how arguments in favour have held to very white, Western concepts of what it is to be human."
Got a few things off my chest about race and #AssistedDying

Thereβs rubbish on the pitchβ¦ and I donβt mean Man Utd πππ
I honestly think urban meadows are one of the best things to happen - parks and even little patches of wild flowers are such an improvement
Honestly the most DQ'ing thing I've seen about Harris is how she's stayed in dignified silence as everyone trashes her campaign. She stepped up at short notice when the party needed her, saved scores if not hundreds of down ballot colleagues who would have gone down with Biden & is getting no thanks
west ham paying kristie mewis a whole wage just so she can have sam kerr's baby is actually so funny. good for them!
Further note to any staffers (where are you, say hi) moving their bosses over - use your website domain as verification.
Takes 30 seconds and ensures people know it's the real person.
Why do those bottles that footballers always drink out of look like little cow udders
Yes I agree π
