As a gigantic Arknights fan I'm super contrived about Endfield because in some ways it is super fun but it really does not stand up to the quality of Arknights' original vision and purpose
Laterfield! 😀

Specifically was thinking on BBCF and Xrd characters and how people talk about them Xrd Johnny was very much in mind when posting that lol
Woah late but happy bday
I feel like people focus a bit too much over combo execution as the thing that makes a character hard in a fighting game, instead of the character having to work harder to do things other can do in more universal tools that cover more things
Like wdym people dislike Kushala Daora I mean I don't love that fight but to hate it? Idk that's crazy to me
I'm surprised whenever I see takes on Monster Hunter because I have never had such a disconnect from the opinions of a fanbase as big as that one
The way they all erupt into laughter oml
Anyways that's it I'm getting out of my pretentious ass I just really felt annoyed by that comment
The lighting, the position of the camera below like a dutch angle, the way Sephiroth is imposed on the frame as well as looking past it, and if you have played it the music being very ominous, this is the meaning of this scene and it exists *as is*, not as a limitation.
I still remember when they made that FF7 gacha and they were using this as a comparison for the scene and like yeah what happens in the scene might have come out of one person (we don't know this and cannot confirm) yet you can clearly see how many more aspects go into the development process
Oguri Cap ... Cap as in Peak...
Obviously, technology matters in this factor but that is disconnected from how FF7 ended up being by the end of it. FF7 exists not as a game out of the limitations of that time but it ends up being tested against time, as its own creation. And I would say, it very much holds up
saw this post and it made me wanna write how I feel about this.
TL;DR: The developer, and what a piece of media are, do not co-align
That does not mean that it doesn't matter, but it requires its own framing.
Gets complicated after:
A) Years of separation
B) Being a collaborative process

It's impossible to make an FG that ALL of its aspects work like this, but imo the more you are able to frame it as something a person can understand it without the need to have someone explain it to you, the faster their understanding on others aspects become, as well as they don't get overwhelmed
Like playing Mario Bros. for example, you jump, most people never have to be explained pressing a direction affects the trajectory, it just comes naturally to you that this abstract thing exists in the first place, and this is hard to do for more abstract gameplay things like, a shoryu, for example
Think of for example, would you had EVER naturally understood anti-airs existed, without someone or somewhere learning that A) it is a thing, and B) it is normally in down fierce? I don't think so, I needed someone to explain this to me, or be shown this is how this aspect worked in the first place
