Thanks dude 💙
1600 people. Feels so indiscriminate and cruel. You already know the justifications used.
I’m supposed to simultaneously be excited about this new “ground-breaking technology” and be sad and upset that it’s taking peoples’ careers, and scared that it’s coming for mine.
😔 Devastated to see a bunch of my coworkers impacted by layoffs today. A whole host of amazingly talented and genuinely awesome folks.
If you’re looking to connect please let me know and I’ll put you in touch.
Having a manager that advocates for you, knows your strengths, and pushes you to grow is so amazing, and it's unfortunate that's so rarely the case.
Lot of bullshit going on in the world right nowm but I had a big personal win this week — a promotion I worked toward for last year+ went through 😁
The number of times a day I see people using "all be it" instead of "albeit" is a bit concerning... "bone apple tea" vibes
Can someone just delete LinkedIn from the internet already?
I just got done watching a truly horrible movie at Sundance ("The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist"). It was introduced by the Sundance programming rep as having "a strong sense of informational integrity", but it's hard to imagine a characterization more off the mark.
A long thread 🧵>>
It's incompetence all the way down with this administration
People keep talking about "AI" impact on individual productivity but productivity is by its nature usually an aggregate measure affected by multiple variables. It's almost always a high-level measure. Most "AI" studies I've seen are pretending that it can be measured in detail for each person 1/
I just saw LinkedIn post from someone who described using Webflow to build their website as "building it the old fashioned way"
Oh, how far we've fallen.
🎯 One of my main goals this year is getting more involved in my community and providing my skills and expertise through volunteer work.
I've got some cool stuff on the calendar already and a very impactful project for Oregon non-profits I'm leading over the next 2 months.
Stoked 🤙🏼
Finally decided to upgrade my devices a few days ago. Unfortunately everything I've seen and read online is true:
Liquid Glass is full of some of the worst UI decisions. There are maybe a handful of IA changes that I believe to be much better, but they are overshadowed by everything else.
the only way to stay sane while working in tech is to aggressively pursue hobbies and interests that are grounded in analog mediums and/or the natural world
⛔️Offline for the rest of the year ✌🏼
Starting to add some fun pages to the site. Still a huge WIP but happy enough with it right now to get it out and start adding some more content.
Another day, another typeface and domain purchased.
So sick 👏🏽
Super annoying how limited Framer's CMS is for certain things.
They've also had a feature request to password protect individual pages for YEARS and it seems like they've completely ignored that feedback from customers.
Thinking of taking some of these free MIT writing courses. Trying to write more lately and these look promising. If anyone has any other recommendations, lemme know.
Another varied & fulfilling weekend:
- Reading
- Sketching
- Researching and drafting blogs
- Working on iOS apps
- Designing a new piece of furniture
- 3D printing some things
- Tweaking my site & adding Favorites pages
- Caulking windows & testing paint samples
- Holiday markets
Yeah not sure but I def feel bad for the seasonal workers.
I bought a season pass at Bach for the first time this week so you can just blame me 😂
We accept that crops grow and then get harvested and then the field lies fallow.
We accept that animals hibernate.
But when it comes to our own sense of meaning, we expect constant summer...

For the first time ever, we cut down our own Christmas tree.
Getting our permit, driving into the middle of the forest, and seeing other families out there doing the same was a fantastic experience.
I think we did pretty good for our first time 😊
It's starting to feel like one of the best decisions I've made in the last few years was trade my ink jet printer for a laser printer. Why did I suffer for so long?
Ski resort was supposed to open this weekend but base just isn't there yet. And of course there's a late start the first year I buy a season pass 😂. Hoping for some good snow up high soon 🙏
Love building iOS apps in Swift. Getting close to completion on a few apps I've been building and just enjoying every second of it.
Some really fun characters in this one...
