Yes, I could just report the Athletico emails I just started getting as spam. But what if I subsequently become a customer of theirs myself?
That latter scenario is specifically what I'm annoyed about, as an EXTREMELY frequent recipient of misdirected transactional emails! Your systems need to account for the high probability of mistakes.
There is a special place in hell for anyone that creates an email template with a footer that says "This email address does not accept replies."
It should be illegal for any system that generates emails of any kind to not offer either an unsubscribe link OR simple instructions to follow to inform the sender that you are not the intended recipient. (I am getting appointment reminders for Athletico in Eureka, MO forever I guess.)

Butt?
I don't have to like it.
Did WordPress really push two updates in a single day?
No, I don't, which is why my personal preference is to ban cars entirely. I think that if we start getting a lot of driverless cars, it's likely to come with even stricter restrictions on how people, bikes, etc, are allowed to exist on streets.
Always does.
Anyway anyway, I wish all drivers a happy $8/gallon!
Yes, the first driver that almost hit me was turning towards and almost certainly on the way to an elementary school! (Though with 100% tinted windows I could not tell for sure.)
Yes, but it actually does! My points of exposure are quite limited on the LFT and I am able to be very defensive around them, so while I still witness bad driving, I am not typically at much risk as a result. Unlike walking on sidewalks.
I was walking along 72nd Street from South Shore Drive to the Metra station at Exchange. It is a residential street lined with apartments, with clearly-marked crosswalks, curb cuts with tactile bumps, etc.
What's crazy is that my exposure to it is so low! My usual commute is the lakefront trail. But it has gotten to where, every time I walk the few blocks to the train instead, someone tries to murder me with a car!
I walked half a mile to school without an adult most days from 1991-1998 and honestly I can't imagine permitting that anymore.
The mind does keep returning to these precious fragments.
I am extremely spoiled in that I usually bike to work on a route that is mostly protected from cars! It is truly astonishing how much bad driving I see on days when I walk two blocks to the train, vs biking 10 miles.
"deranged pedestrian attacked innocent car for no reason we can discern" uhuh
Right?
Anyway, if you see me sharing a criminal defense fund on here in the future, you'll know what I did. And you know that the system will 100% side with the driver who tried to murder me when I did it.
Now I get to sit on the train and stew angrily in adrenaline while I rage pointlessly on the Internet. My only slight hope is that my obscenely loud yelling scared both of them enough to throw off their mornings too, but I'm not optimistic. Baseball bat would've been better.
I am not an inattentive pedestrian! My phone was in my pocket. In both cases I signaled with my hands to the preceding driver that I intended to stop, then paused when I arrived at the curb. Then I stepped into the intersection before the next car entered it. No ambiguity about right of way.
Gonna become a pro-Waymo guy, but only if it means we prohibit all humans from driving anything bigger than a motorcycle manually.
I don't know how we fix this without banning cars, installing devices in them that force them to come to a complete stop when required to, or installing camera enforcement at every intersection. Pick your poison but this is absolutely insane and is only getting worse.
Truly just murderous behavior. I am 1/3 of the way across the street and they are ACCELERATING towards me.
Both cars were following other cars that I yielded to. They both slowed down at the stop sign but then did not stop as I entered the street. Both had 100% tinted windows because of course they did.
Love too start my day by yelling "fuck you, stop!" at the top of my lungs. Twice.
Walked two blocks to the train this morning, which means I was almost obliterated by drivers in two different crosswalks who drove their cars right at me without stopping. Fuck cars so much. I'm going to start carrying a baseball bat when I take the train.
