Maybe we should spend less time worrying about the causes and cures of autism and more time figuring out how to support autistic folks (& all disabled ppl) so they/we can live happy, healthy, safe and loved lives. Put money towards care not cures.

That show was not journalism. It relied on pseudoscientific research of exactly one professional, whose work has been roundly discredited by her peers. The magical autist portrayal is deeply disturbing and irresponsible. And the “miracles” of facilitated communication have been debunked over & over.

I can’t believe a show as grossly negligent as The Telepathy Tapes is getting a 2ndseason. It trafficked in pseudoscience, conspiracy theories and straight up quackery. Its main source lost her medical license in 2009 & her work widely condemned by legit scientists. Shame on the podcast industry.
