On that note, tell me about a piece of art you love. Share photos! (With alt text please.) Link to things! I want to know what delights you! (Non-exhaustive list of examples: poems, photos, sculptures, comics, mosaics, song lyrics, books, performances, WHATEVER!)

The hand-wringing over the lack of American strategic coherence should not distract from the likelihood that Israel as the other key actor in this war most likely has quite clear strategic intentions

i do think that if you are going to put egyptian mummies on display, that the room they are in should at least have a Ka door, and that there should be food placed on the lintel. the Rosicrucian Museum has one of those upstairs in the Akhenaten exhibit and it changed my opinion on repatriation.

the role of staff is so fascinating to me. mainly bc watching them interact with council is somewhere between watching someone get video game loading screen tutorial tips for their job, and watching someone debate their possible choices with their bureaucratic conscience

The overarching parallel is that they are both illegal wars of aggression.

I almost posted β€œIsrael is a US client state entirely propped up by American military funding without which it would cease to exist while also being the all powerful mastermind pulling all the strings in the US government which it controls completely” but I realized some of you really believe that

one reset I'd personally appreciate: behind the insistence that we must offer the electorate a little bigotry is the idea that commoners are more bigoted than the richer and more educated, who can be appealed to with high minded policy. but then you Ctrl+F "phrenology" in the Epstein files

Clearly this would be the First World War not the second

want to follow the news but can't bear thinking about ordinary Iranians, who've been stuck under such an oppressive regime for so long, who maybe got a flicker of hope, briefly, a few months ago, then watched in horror as their friends and relatives got killed by the state, and now this, unspeakable

People who are object to this plan: I feel like they are afraid we can't do it. Well here's the thing. I'm not afraid. I believe in this country. I believe Canada can do this and that it's worth doing. I can't wait to turn on the radio on 30 years and hear the music of the country we've become

I dunno, if I were Jeffrey Goldberg, author of "How Did I Get Iraq Wrong?' (2008), I might pause for a moment before cheerleading another war in the same region.

There is no reason Canada should not grow to 100 000 000 over the next 25 years. It will be good for us. Fair for the world. If we stumble into it: a disaster. If we plan for it, we can build the housing, the schools, the hospitals. In the coming crisis, this is our moon shot. Let's make it happen

I want em all. Kill the point system. Fund the university education of their kids. Pay them all to learn French. We'll never regret the people we let in. They'll be us.

Canada has no relevant medium term constraint on immigration. Our culture is strong. Our institutions strong. A growing population will mean a growing population that will help us build. No more exploitative temporary work. An economy made of the once and future citizens, committed to global justice

Want to make Canada safe from aggressors? We need feet in boots. Want to grow markets? Build connections to Asia and Africa. Want to increase soft power? Be a beacon to the world of hospitality & inclusion. Demographic torque? Untwisted. Build local industry? Build local demand. This is our century.

Hormuz being closed will kill more than 200 kids in the long run.

The food and energy inflation will cause broad starvation in some parts of the world and will kick off civil wars and regional conflicts over energy resources.

That’s why everyone is focused on the price of oil

Hi, oil expert here! this is not funny, the benchmark cost of US light, sweet crude oil only does this when it's in extreme distress.
