Quite beautiful!
Deep snow covers the foot path that leafs away into the depths of the forest, the barren branches and foliage laden with wet, pristine snow

Because not Speaking truth to power is going to make the USA forget about annexing Canada? You think staying silent is going to make him re-sign his own free trade deal or make things easier for Canada in upcoming trade negotiations?
Iβm old and I will rather die on my feet than live on my knees.
Wow! Congrats everyone! What an awesome cause!
Of course it isnt easy but grow a pair. The USA has ripped up signed trade agreements, threaten our sovereignty daily and disrespected our military time and again. What do we have to lose?
You think giving your lunch money to a bully is going to stop the bullying?
I wish #Canada would have a backbone like #Spain.
What is the USA going to do? Impose tariffs and reneg on signed trade agreements? Threaten our sovereignty? Support provincial successionist movements? Disrespect our past military support? Treat us like shit?
The USA cannot be trusted.
Now that is one beautiful crystal!
The issue of wealth inequality is one of the most pressing social and economic problems of our time. States must take action to rein in the power of billionairesβand one key tool for doing so would be a wealth tax. By @lindamcquaig.bsky.social + Neil Brooks.

Sparkle.
βThe Islamic Republic is likely to emerge transformed or weakened in ways not yet visible. But the notion that it would simply dissolve under pressure was always fanciful.β

Well worth the read.
Anyone who assumes Iran would become a Western ally after regime change should consider Iraq and Libya, both left barely viable after U.S. imperial intervention, and Afghanistan, where years of sacrifice ended with Trump handing power back to the Taliban.
I love me a good rock or a good stick. This is a fine rock!

The world's leading Marxist geographer and economist @davidharvey.org takes us by the hand to guide us through Marx's masterwork in his new book, The Story of Capital.
Prosperity for who? Oligarchs and billionaires? Inequality has grown leaps and bounds in Canada and there are zero policies being enacted to prevent or even ameliorate this.
What Iβm reading over coffee: Horak seems to suggest that with no off-ramp it looks like the government in Tehran will likely choose to build a nuclear weapon to avoid either regime change or civil war and the ethnic fracturing of their own country.
Now this is journalism!
Look at how Trump continues to bad mouth Starmer and the Brits even after they acceded to his demands.
Why do Carney and Pollievre think that Trump will treat Canada any different? We sold our soul for what? Iβd rather die on my feet than on my knees.

There are no guardrails constraining the beasts in Washington, Tel Aviv or Tehran. Anything is possible as this war spreads.
Canada must stop tiptoeing around. We must push for action at the UN and work with allies to try and de-escalate.
This is my latest statement.

Not sure how to de-escalate when this is framed as Armageddon and the Second Coming of Christ. Not that Trump and his ilk believe this, but this is a good way to distract from their corruption, theft, and sex crimes against children.
There is no win for Canada to appease tyrants and dictators.
A view across a shaded lazy river to a small, isolated Buddhist shrine accessible only by boat against an impressive backdrop of karst stack formations and unevenly covered by thick vines of jungle. The humid air particles hang in the air as the sun dips behind the misty mountains towards the horizon

Yes but think about how trade with India will benefit Canadians elites and oligarchs. Isnβt that worth selling out Canadian values?
Meanwhile, the rest of us get higher gas prices, less affordability, and the media threatens us with a pro-Trump Pollievre regime in Ottawa If we dare offer criticism.
Indeed, where are the unions and universities? Where is civil society?
Who is calling this out for what it is: criminal and unethical actions that threaten the trust that we should have with those paid to enforce the law. This threatens all institutions, not just the police. We deserve better.
I know people believe it's rare, but I've known survivors and I know how easily people get their victims. I believe they try consistently and people would be surprised how easily people ignore the problem.
What I'm reading over coffee: A fascinating study in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences analyses Aurignacian carvings from 30k+ years ago; data shows patterned, information rich sign sequences, suggesting early symbolic encoding millennia before "writing".

More proof of his inadequate and incompetent management.
How did these so-called βconservativesβ earn their reputation for financial and managerial competence?
oh right, by constantly repeating the claim across the media they control, knowing repetition shapes public perception.
There is too much trickling down after all the privatisation of public goods! Look at all the private sector innovation flooding communities with positive employment and educational opportunities like the politicians and business people said they would!
Said no one. Ever.
