a single contiguous brass wire bent and shaped into the shape of a flower with a cyan stone in the center, with a stem and two small leaves. the bottom spirals flat to create a stand and extends into the letters "ababa"
surprisingly, some people use it to do anki flashcards. you can hold it in 1 hand, convenient if you're on a treadmill
just wait until you hear about vector4...
screenshot of the osu website for ludicin bismuth mapset by ababa. the mapset has 3 difficulties spanning roughly 6.2 to 7.7 stars. the mapset has been ranked 3 hours ago and the description reads "full rice tech, high alpha, low delta, low epsilon".
my bismuth mapset is ranked!!!!! never thought it was possible to rank but here we are

i might start horsing around a little bit on this account
screenshot of "xenoblade chronicles x", a nintendo switch game. the screenshot displays the main cast posing for the camera, with a congratulatory text in the center that says "congratulations! the survey of planet mira is 100% complete!". this marks the completion of all sidequests and exploration in the game.
had 500 hours in my wii u savefile, but i ended up selling the wii u without ever getting 100% mira...
a remaster release on switch, new save with 135 hours, and this completes my redemption arc!
osu lazer screenshot of song select with blue zenith four dimensions selected local leaderboard is displayed with a 96.02% score from 5 months ago and a 79.47% score from just now
damn i actually used to be cracked at the game...
I'm going to tell you a secret. If you want to do weird visual or narrative things with a video game, you can just do that. You don't need to explain that these things are being caused by the ghost of someone's little brother haunting the program or whatever. You're allowed to not do that.
pls do not put me on blast at the start of stand up with โI saw your pull request at 3:30am last nightโ I have adhd
i regret taking the lonely road in my studies. wish i had ppl to study with irl
see that's where you're going wrong. you need to be using arch in order to find a partner
are you using arch
for a broad overview on graphics/rendering, we have this truly beautiful video by branch education, beautiful to the point where i can't even believe this kind of content is free.

i personally can't remember anything specific regarding your examples, but there are probably papers on specific problems you're looking to solve. i might be able to find something if you can manage to be more specific
a few more relevant fields of math are
- "game theory" which studies strategic interactions and evolves into things like economics
- probability and statistics, which deal with anything that can be random
ah, that's the kind of math you were referring to. the two resources i linked mostly cover the pure math side of things, so you can perform things like physics, manipulating a camera etc.
for the pure math side of things, you can check out 3blue1brown's video series on linear algebra. they have beautiful animations and explanations. i recommend watching this as soon as you understand the way that linear algebra is applied in games so you have context

freya holmer's stuff is really good. her series on youtube literally called "math for game devs" should be exactly what you're looking for! she covers both topics.

the most important places to start in the context of game dev are trigonometry and linear algebra.
trigonometry is required every time you need to deal with angles (like rotations). linear algebra deals with the math to work in 2d/3d space.

People hate their own art because it looks like they made it. They think if they get better, it will stop looking like they made it. A better person made it. But there's no level of skill beyond which you stop being you. You hate the most valuable thing about your art.
trying to explain the OSI model to an american: imagine if a burger had 7 patties
In case any of my fellow creatives also needed this reminder:
A thread on colourblindness & #gamedev -
If your approach to colourblindness is full screen filters, you're *doing it wrong*, and causing more problems that you're solving.
If you see a game that has filters, they're doing it wrong. If you see a game that has a 'strength' slider - don't copy it.
i've only recently learned about the term "microblogging" to describe bsky/twitter so i'll do just that. writing small blog posts.
