OK! Worked on some enemy variety a bit.
Big mobs of weird floaty guys you can push around with shots, chasing Vampire Moths, strafing Eyebats and classic dive-attacking birds.

This is with a lot of the volley metaprogress upgrades :D

Starting to look a little more like a shmup!

Improved my spawnGroups concept so multiple groups can be clustered together.

Did a big AI/Behavior overhaul where Behaviors can be sequenced and completed by the Actors. Next I have to make that scriptable!

OK! Basic bullet feels good, think that's locked down.

Some hemming and hawing with the UI, but I think I'm gonna keep it super minimalist. Might make some elements oscillate for enhanced spooky.

Working on Familiars (who'll be equipable options I think)

Found this game I worked on as a kid and managed to get the source code to build!

It was based on a kind of 1-2 bit style and had some light Metroidvania and eco-sim elements.

It was almost done and pretty playable, might toss it up on itch.io.

Onward we go.

Got enemies in spawnGroups for max shmup feel. Need some spacing and alignment but basics roughed in.

Some powerups like a screen clear bomb and lightning ball orbitals.

These enemies were designed for zelda-like, gotta rethink.

So now I have some permanent metaprogress upgrades.

Its got a little roguelite element to the shmup waves now, but you also get powerups during gameplay like a standard shmup.

I'm definitely leaning far more casual than hardcore here.

I was messing around with this for a bit.
Top down 360 shooter, but with the idea that your hoverjet has a dedicated Flight/Hover mode. Cut to hover and you just skim over the land surface and be hit by ground weapons.
Flight takes you high and you can bomb, but consumes fuel

Was working on this project for a while.

Core concept was Nuclear Throne type presentation, but moment to moment combat that feels like Halo.

There's stagger mechanics on weapons too, kind of based on old doom's "painchance". Shotgun has a high stagger rating.

A couple friends and I made this a few years back.

Not available on Google Play any more, mostly due to google nuking my developer account into the sun.

I did end up benefiting from that class action against google on behalf on indie developers so I still won.

I get that take!
I think my core argument here is that random fumble charts can still make a good story, if a different kind. Sometimes you instagib your mount on accident.
I lean more on the "DM as referee" side than "DM as storyteller" though, and I realize those are basically different games.

This realm with Boomshrooms and Ghosts is pretty intense.

You can interrupt a Ghost's attacks, so the strategy seems to be keeping pressure on the ghosts and just diving over the shrooms until they're packed tightly for a chain explosion.

Finally set up biomes properly for Witchling Grove.

Biome data gets pulled in from LDTK, and gives data on Monster Inhabitants, scatter tiles, and tree types.
