Hey #rstats #rspatial people working with rivers, how do you approach labelling rivers nicely on maps where the underlying data are broken up into many small stream segments, each with the same string in the name column of the sf object?

It takes a while on my cheap digital ocean droplet but I don’t remember it taking too long on my fairly modest local Mac mini

It was actually for a poster at a scientific conference. Initially I had the idea to just make the title look like the cover of a comic. After that it kind of got out of hand… I’m not much of an artist with a pen so I used AI to generate the images. Glad you liked it!
