BuxMont Democratic Socialists of America's Statement on No War in Iran
BuxMont DSA strongly condemns the Israeli and U.S. strikes against Iran. This is yet another example of the U.S.-led imperialist actions designed to impose suffering on populations abroad instead of meeting the needs of its people.
The American people do not want another regime change military engagement. They want affordable healthcare, affordable housing, low grocery prices, and easy access to public transportation. BuxMont DSA calls for the immediate end of all military operations against Iran, immediate end of all support for the genocidal state of Israel, and the immediate impeachment of President Donald Trump. It is the right of the people of Iran to decide their own destiny, not for the U.S. to impose a puppet state upon them.
*Updated* BuxMont DSA's statement on the imperialist actions against Iran.

Statement: Quakertown Community High School Walkout
On Friday, February 20th, 35-60 students from Quakertown Community High School (QCHS) walked out in protest of ICE terror in our communities. This free expression of teenagers fighting injustice was met with violence from adult bystanders and the state. The students bravely defended their peers from assault by men on the scene, including Quakertown Chief of Police and Borough Manager Scott McElree, who, in plainclothes, put a teenage girl in a chokehold. Several students remain detained following the incident, a grossly punitive measure against minors defending themselves.
QCHS administrators identified a βpotential safety threatβ and asked the students not to walk out. Indeed, the actual safety threat was the police. The very agency that purports to protect the rights and safety of our communities has shown itself once again as a force of violent repression against anyone, even children, who challenge the status quo. Our students deserve investments not in agencies of brutality, punishment, and surveillance, but in education, healthcare, housingβin short, their futures.
Our statement on the Quakertown Community Highschool Walkout.

On the morning of February 4th, we watched in shock as a Norristown Police Officer accelerated their cruiser and struck a person experiencing a mental health crisis, sending them multiple feet into the air. Afterwards, police detained the person instead of administering first aid.
The video is clear; the officer used their vehicle as a weapon against an unarmed and vulnerable community member. We hope for the victimβs full recovery and expect full accountability from the Norristown Police Department. However, nothing will erase the damage to the individual and the damage to public trust.
Police failed to protect residents. Officers did not stop traffic, and they did not attempt to de-escalate the situation. Emergency medical services were not first on the scene when they should have been. When faced with a person in crisis, their only solution was violent force. When asked at a town hall on February 5th, Police Chief Trail did not know the medical status of the victim. The safety of residents is an afterthought.
This incident reflects not only on the entire police department, but on the Norristown Municipal Council as well. We ask Norristown to consider whether the police department should be receiving nearly 40% of the budget when they fail to meet the most basic standards and endanger others.
This violent act serves as a solemn reminder that we have no one to protect us but ourselves. Along with the frequent ICE raids on our neighbors, we see that state violence against vulnerable members of our community is the norm. The system of policing is designed to oppress and occupy our communities, not to protect them. We stand with the community of Norristown and hope to build a future where our neighbors are not victimized by the people who are sworn to protect them. Signed, BuxMont Democratic Socialists of America

And we urge all of you to stand in the utmost solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution.

There is a direct link between militarism abroad & disinvestment at home. Did you know the $56 million of people's money our state treasury has in Israeli bonds is enough on average to build 240 units of public housing? (GAO-23-105370)

Huge service cuts are on the way if SEPTA remains underfunded. These cuts will impact riders who rely on public transit to make it to work, medical appointments, and visit family. It will also impact automobile commuters by forcing thousands more to drive into and out of the city at rush hour.
