Lot of people responding to that thread saying “Yes! other people have become so uncaring!!” And I really have to ask..when was the last time you wore a mask in a place where vulnerable people have to be? When was the last time you saw someone in a mask and put one on in solidarity?

As I’ve been saying for six years, you cannot decide to shut off empathy in just one lil area (all of disabled and vulnerable people.) Endangering people for your convenience and comfort is a drug you do not do recreationally.

Id like him to govern like a member of the party he ran for and not like a Harper conservative. He gives a good speech, and hes not pollievre, but im hard pressed to find a single positive thing hes done in his year in office.

Maybe id like him to not slash public services, public broadcasting, backpedal on things like the digital service tax, or take such a cowardly stance on USAs stupid war just to appease the president he literally campaigned on being able to stick up to?

His approval rating is for his Davos speech, not his policies. People are giving him a lot of blind faith and he is decidedly not earning any of it.

The cost of everything is going up again and they aren’t going to lower it when oil prices come back down to earth

"Just after starting on Cars 2, I was told by a superior that I would be uninvited from all weekly art department meetings because Lasseter 'has a hard time controlling himself' around young women... It was clear that the institution was working hard to protect him, at the expense of women like me."

Having similarly dealt with far-right characters I’ve reported on engage in stalking / harassing behaviour to the point where lawyers needed to be engaged, I can say Canada’s laws are completely insufficient to deal with these problems and I have zero trust in the legal system to protect journalists

When really, for a guy who can do the w/kg he can, hes a really great time trialist and a decent puncheur too. Would have really liked to see how he stacked up on the WC ITT course this year for example.

Then he might not feel the need to be so monk-like in his preparation. Because you're right. He has ridden really well in a variety of stages. His versatility gets criminally underrated because his number one rival is argueably the most versatile rider of all time.

I sort of wonder if the 2023 grand tour status quo had held, where Jonas was the best grand tour rider and pog was the best overall rider, if we'd see a more interesting calendar throughout the year for Jonas. If he had to be sharp but not perfect (to even have a chance) at the tour...

Canadian Carbon Pricing Systems: 2025 Review This report provides an overview of Canada’s industrial carbon pricing systems, their design and performance, as well as lessons for stronger emissions cuts.

Useful report for Canadian policymakers.
"Canada’s mix of industrial carbon pricing systems has largely been effective. A common fed benchmark provides coherence, while prov tailoring supports competitiveness. At the same time, design differences can fragment markets and blur carbon price signals."

The KIDS Act (mass censorship and surveillance law that would eliminate anonymous internet use) is moving forward in the House, and the only opposition is from Democrats who claim it doesn't censor and surveil ENOUGH. When is the left going to wake tf up???

Mark Carney’s Stance On Iran Throws His Davos Doctrine Into Question “What we’re hearing right now, at a time when it really matters, is … that we’re giving in.”

NEW: Mark Carney’s ‘regretful’ support for the U.S.-Israeli war of aggression against Iran is a capitulation to Trump, and an abandonment of any notion of ‘middle-power’ leadership.

And a belief in our neighbors as good, is maybe a better place from which to recognize that the blame for most dangerous falsehoods lies at the feet of those who have been misleading, not those who have been misled.

There are a lot of Canadians with beliefs that trouble me but who are also there for their communities at least in some scenarios when push comes to shove. A core lens through which I view the world is that propaganda only works because "good people" fall for it.

I think on one hand its actually a bit concerning as a self assessment in that its a pathway to its own kind of blind exceptionalism but on the other hand I do think it describes a cultural difference and reminds me of things like Gander on 9/11.

It's a far cry from the abysmal way that most media has softened this topic, and does by definition acknowledge the threat to our sovereignty. Mainstream American media talks about it like we'd be a friendly new neighbour, they'd sure never use the term annex.

04.03.2026 23:18 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

While I agree with your premise in general, I think to call them annexation threats is pretty factually accurate. By the definition you have used, (which I agree is correct) annexation pretty clearly describes the abhorrent nature of the threats.

I hope that you can read up on this topic and I'd suggest TechDirt as a way to start, they've done the best reporting debunking the idea that social media is some harmful thing causing a mental health crisis in young people, as has every single top academic on this issue who has said as much.

When Putin needed pretext for creating "The Red Web", Russia's authoritarian system of online censorship that effectively bans LGBTQ speech, he did it through the EXACT same moral panic about social media and kids that liberals and many leftists are spreading today.
