Ugh god no agh ick pbbt
Blarf!
Certainly reflects fascistic elements -- a way of thinking that corrodes, discourages reflection
Finally! A suffix that speaks to me!
Art can fill a gap between what we see and what we want, and that can be important during times like these
-maxxing is an insufferable suffix that is impressed upon us in order for us to increase our productivity. Destroy this insidious mathematical lens by removing it from your vocabulary, take back your words
I think this story is a really good example for people to look at when it comes to understanding bias at NYT. It's not that the reporter, Dana Rubinstein, says anything outright false. But the framing, word choices, etc., add up to an unprofessional and biased account.
Drawing of a girl (OC) wearing a familiar Super Mario Bros looking ensemble. I wonder what side-scrolling adventures she has in store today?
It's-a MAR10 day! 🍄
Oh my god shut up
“This is an economic driver,” Ford added, speaking of the waterfront airport a short drive from downtown. “A lot of people don’t want to be driving up to Pearson … give people an option.”
Hm, yes, if only the provincial government would provide an option as an alternative to driving to Pearson. Maybe some sort of… express? www.thestar.com/news/gta/dou...
I think Bradford has a good chance of scaring off Ford but I think this points to a general feature of this election, he can't scare off everyone given how many people out there are saying they won't work with Bradford, and the vote splitting dooms him.
It also saves a headache with project approvals. Just approve the artist and let the projects bear out instead of approving each project and going through a whole lot of BS
And depending on how you look at soft power revenue, an argument can be made that the capital that returns from it as well as the enhanced prestige on a global stage more than recoups the investment. It's just done at scale with artist basic incomes.
I think so. Like the burden of trying to finance cultural works would shift from individuals to the state, making it so that artists can work at their highest potential instead of having to cozy up to money. Shortform, the latter favours individuals that have access and are personable, imo
*sigh* Ain't it the truth

worth reading the thread, wherein we learn that capcom are totally willing to include AI protections in the contract... but hey buddy, what if they need to break that contract someday? we cant have the union suing us!!
I need the HELLRAISER duffle and canteen so bad.
The first Electric Superman sketches from Ron Frenz--the design that changed my perspective on what I wanted to do in comics and made it clear this was the job for me. Just beautiful, to this day.
How John Tory and Michael Ford have shaken up absolutely nothing in this nepo baby town/province/country/world
I’m tired of Doug Ford playing with Toronto as if it were a game of SimCity 3000.
My @thestar.com column: For 15 years, Doug Ford has had an obsession with Toronto’s waterfront, hyping up half-baked ideas. The latest? A busier airport and a mega convention centre.
But the waterfront has never needed Ford's ideas—and will be worse because of them.
www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...
It's not "the waterfront".
It's valuable real-estate. Time and time again, Ford is eyeing up public assets to sell off to his rich, private-school developer friends.
Nothing to do with ideas and everything to do with selling valuable land and fat government contracts

What I can say from the research I've done is that the situation from the 90's is not the same as the 00's, which is not the same as the 10's and is definitely worlds away from the present. The something that would help would be more information on multiple levels.
I don't have much of a solution, but this is my armchair quarterbacking opinion atm. I'll do more research later to try and support this thesis
The central issue is that creative work is unstable and doesn't see immediate returns. Corporations underbid on the work while creative teams take on the risk. This results in financial instability for creatives.
