The federal budget allocates three times the funding for ICE than for the United States Marine Corps.
Journalism and teaching are some of the most valuable yet thankless jobs in our society. I want to thank everyone who wakes up in the morning excited to teach others or inform their fellow humans for terrible pay.

America cannot long remain free, nor first among nations, if it becomes the kind of place where universities are dismantled because they don't align politically with the current head of the government.
Excited to open source Strands Agents today! LLMs have gotten so good at reasoning and tool use that building model-driven agents with Strands is easy AND powerful

The AWS WAF works really well. Nice improvement here!
mRNA vaccines are the biggest breakthrough in disease prevention and treatment in decades. We're curing *cancer* with mRNA vaccines. To eliminate research in this field, at this moment, is fall-of-the-empire-grade stuff.
+1 on this: The US stands out relative to other country because of decades of big-time investment in scientific infrastructure. That is why the US won on science and attracting talent.
Trump is dismantling that infrastructure now, but it has never existed in other countries to the same degree.
THIS IS HUGE! Researchers at Stanford University have developed a dual-antibody treatment that remains effective against ALL SARS-CoV-2 variants by targeting a less-mutable part of the virus. This breakthrough could lead to longer-lasting therapies that OUTPACE viral evolution. 🧪🧵⬇️
AWS Amplify announced the new feature of Compute Role earlier this week, and I updated my website to leverage this new feature and got rid of some credentials store as plain text: glucn.com/posts/2025-0...

Having just wrestled with this and learning how to use overrides on L1 constructs, this comes as a nice surprise! #AWSCDK L2 Construct for AWS AppSync Events API!! Whoop whoop! aws.amazon.com/about-aws/wh...
n the FAA, even a small systems disruption could cause mass grounding of flights, a halt in global shipping, or worse, downed planes. For instance, the agency oversees the Traffic Flow Management System, which calculates the overall demand for airspace in U.S. airports and which airlines depend on. “Going into these systems without an in-depth understanding of how they work both individually and interconnectedly is a recipe for disaster that will result in death and economic harm to our nation,” one FAA employee who has nearly a decade of experience with its system architecture told us. “‘Upgrading’ a system of which you know nothing about is a good way to break it, and breaking air travel is a worst-case scenario with consequences that will ripple out into all aspects of civilian life. It could easily get to a place where you can’t guarantee the safety of flights taking off and landing.” Nevertheless, on Wednesday Musk posted that “the DOGE team will aim to make rapid safety upgrades to the air traffic control system.”
From a person w/ intimate knowledge of the FAA's technical systems. To say they're concerned is an understatement. These are systems you do not fuck around with. Even small, subtle changes, can ripple through systems which all feed into each other, and keep planes in the sky, freight being delivered
DOGE: Great coordination across 35 agencies over the last two days to terminate 199 wasteful contracts saving ~$250mm, including: -Contract for "Asia Pacific - Sri Lanka climate change mitigation adaption and resilience coordinator services for forest service" -Workshop for "Intercultural communication diversity dialogue circle communicating across differences"
Here’s a great example of these idiots having no idea what they’re cutting. Why would the U.S. help Sri Lanka mitigate the effects of climate change? Because natural disasters are brutal and sea level rise will devastate the country. If we don’t help, China will.

Astro website deployed with AWS Amplify using GitHub repo.
Now, every time I do a git push, the code gets automatically deployed.
Amplify is an interesting serverless solution to deploy React applications on the cloud. The best part is that it offers an integrated CDN globally.
FWM203: I didn’t know AWS AppSync could do that!
I will be on stage at re:Invent this year, partnering up again with @focusotter.bsky.social to catch you up on all things AWS AppSync. From GraphQL, to real-time events, and generative AI, we’ll dive deep into this year’s releases and most exciting capabilities. You won’t want to miss it. Join us!
Slide creation/editing seems ripe for disruption. Why can't I say "Create a placeholder for five 1-inch by 1-inch icons and space them evenly across the slide horizontally"?
FWM304: Build generative AI applications with full-stack TypeScript
Coming to re:Invent this year?? Come learn how to build AI apps with AWS Amplify!
Want to share your private AWS AppSync GraphQL API to another team? — no problem! 🙌

First post on BlueSky. Let's go! I'm really excited about our 2 latest feature releases for AppSync 🎉 First, AppSync now supports Amazon Bedrock runtime as a data source for GraphQL APIs. Second, AppSync now supports resource sharing of AppSync GraphQL APIs across accounts. Let's dig into it. 1/7
Hi there. I am on the Amplify team. Generally our recommendation for apps that require client-side caching is the Apollo iOS client (docs.amplify.aws/swift/build-...). That said, if you want a full offline first solution (beyond caching) this may not meet your requirements.Feel free to DM questions.
Criticism is easy. Creating something worth criticizing is the hard part.
