You can try any distro you want at any point. Back up your files and reformat with a different distro. You don't have to stick with any single one forever.

I use basic Arch with KDE Plasma. I find it more comfortable. It gives me more control over my system with more recent releases.

Don't know which linux distro to use? I get that. Decision paralysis is rough. Even the minor distros have sub-distros. Garuda has like 15 versions.

It doesn't matter as much as you think. My recommendation is sticking with Debian at first, and during installation, pick the KDE Plasma environment.

So ween yourself off the programs and hardware that doesn't work on linux before switching operating systems. Use photoshop? Switch to gimp, learn gimp, use it until you don't have to open photoshop anymore. Then switch to Linux.

If you wanna try then ... just try it. The hardest part is not switching operating systems, it's switching your programs. If your workflow relies on something that doesn't work in linux, you have to stack learning new programs on top of learning linux.

After about 3 days of work, I got DLSS to work on NVK (the open source NVIDIA driver in Mesa)! 🎉

DLSS is essentially just some launched Cuda kernels, so it was just a matter of implementing the VK_NVX_binary_import and VK_NVX_image_view_handle extensions.
