here's one way social change happens: white dudes actually speak up and check other white dudes, even if it means burning social capital. this is most effective when white dudes invest in learning effective communication techniques and put the need to intervene above their own desire to stay comfy

I don’t know if I would necessarily agree that there’s more “evidence” of atheism being fantasy. But I also don’t think it really matters. “Be a decent person who allows others autonomy and try to leave the world better than you found it” feels relevant to all.

I personally consider myself an apathetic atheist- I don’t follow a faith, but I also am not particularly defensive against those who do follow a faith as long as it’s not an excuse to lash out. I was raised pagan. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I mean. I think it’s really difficult to say for sure if it’s belief in deities that causes people to be abusive, or if it’s the influences of patriarchy, white supremacy, and imperialism. Correlation is not causation.

And I’ve known plenty of abusive misogynist atheists.

And there are also plenty of Christians who take the Bible as both of its time and metaphorical, and use it as moral guidance to do mutual aid and environmental stewardship.

There are also other faiths that use their teachings to be abusive to others, they certainly not to the same extent.

If you think that atheism doesn’t have those problems, there are a lot of women who could talk to you.
