Jan Holtkamp (Volt) received 8+ thousand votes in Zurich! While this was not enough to get him into the City Council, this result showed that more citizens want a pro-EU, progressive, and pragmatic force in their government. 💜

Paket Schweiz-EU: Für das Referendum soll das Volksmehr reichen. Und das ist gut so!
Der Entscheid ist kohärent, denn die Bundesverfassung ist in diesem Fall klar: Artikel 140 beschreibt, dass ein Ständemehr (obligatorisches Referendum) nur bei einem Beitritt zu supranationalen Gemeinschaften nötig ist. Das ist hier nicht der Fall. Der Entscheid ist auch demokratisch: Beim Volksmehr zählt jede einzelne Stimme gleich viel - egal aus welchem Kanton sie stammt.
Obwohl der Entscheid für das Volksmehr klar ist, hetzten rechte Parteien und die üblichen Gegner:innen Europas dagegen. Der Grund ist klar: Ein Ständemehr würde für das neue Paket eine viel höhere Hürde darstellen, da die Stimmen kleiner und meist konservativer Kantone stärker gewichtet würden. SVP, Pro Schweiz etc. haben Angst, dass ihre billigen Diffamierungen nicht reichen und greifen zu antidemokratischen Tricks.
Für das Referendum um das neue Vertragspaket zwischen der Schweiz und der EU soll das Volksmehr reichen. Und das ist gut so!

Diese beiden Kandidaten sind ein Symptom des Problems. Unser System ist geeignet für eine angenehme friedliche Zeit. In Situationen wie jetzt kommt es an seine Grenzen und wir sind nicht handlungsfähig. Dies sieht man auch an der späten und inhaltsleeren Reaktion des Bundesrats auf die aktuelle Entwicklung in den USA.
Aber: Auch wenn sich Pfister progressiver und offener darstellt, wird sich der Bundesrat nicht wirklich verändern und eine Schönwetter-Regierung bleiben.
