The officer who shot Alex worked for DHS for 8 years. The officer who shot Renee worked for DHS for over 10 years. Both are considered “highly trained.”

The problem isn’t "training." DHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity. We must MELT ICE and dismantle DHS.

Lizza sucks but for reasons entirely unrelated to the Nuzzi saga. In this story he is straightforwardly the only credible actor and the victim of an evidence-free smear campaign.

Cripes a’mighty people, Steven Miller is not staging a militarized ethnic cleansing and sending the border cops to murder people in the street to distract from the Epstein files. He’s doing it because he and Trump (and Vance and Homan and Noem etc) really really want to.

The people whose political compasses largely revolve around trying to kick people out of places are getting lonely?

Another reminder that doomerism is for losers and helps nobody.

A R+22 district like TN-07 becoming a R single digit district they had to fight for is still a pretty big shift and spells big trouble for the bad guys next year in the midterms.

It's actually not swindling to tell people what they want to hear if you actually intend on doing those things. Swindling would be something like, just for example, announcing a fake Hyperloop system solely to kill California's high speed rail initiative.

oh so these people do pay attention to who politicians follow on social media, they just don’t care that the vice president follows a bunch of actual neo-nazis

Call me a radical leftist but I'd actually prefer my taxes fund SNAP and Medicaid instead of golf trips for millionaires.

Putting a Democrat with a Nazi tattoo in the Senate normalizes Naziism in our federal politics for a long ass time.

All these recent stories about secret Nazi group chats? Anytime that happens going forward will be met with "But Platner."

It's not a purity test. Think through the consequences.

Amazon controls over a third of the global cloud computing market.

Its customers include Capital One, United Airlines, and the US Army.

Today's outage should be a wakeup call: Dependence on a handful of powerful corporations is a threat to economic and national security.

A big problem w/US politics is that often the people that run for office come from a class of people that have the money to have the time, and as such have more in common with the current robber barons then the people they represent. We reward wealth with undue respect, and that needs to change.

CNN: 100+ US Citizen children abandoned because Trump regime deported their parents

ProPublica: 170+ US citizens arrested & tortured by ICE—almost all are Latino

Northwestern: 150 year study proves immigrants have ALWAYS had lower crime rates than US citizens

The Trump regime is a fascist regime

These people are so incompetent that I do think not that long from now anybody who capitulated without a fight is going to look profoundly foolish and weak (more so than they already do).

i think the key to understanding a lot of establishment discourse is that basically only the left and liberals are capable of being viewed as subjects capable of judgement which is why GOP rule is essentially treated as a force of nature

I think again about @jamellebouie.net’s piece referring to the Lincoln speech where he was basically like “the South is simply not going to give us any choice about this, there is nothing we can say that will talk them around other than total capitulation to everything they want”

Theo Von being publicly upset that ICE is using him joking about people being deported in their content is like, what did you expect?

You promoted the big guy on your own podcast, and you made the joke. Enjoy the limelight buddy, you earned being the face of kidnapping random people!

“Trans people have kitchen tables. People that love trans people have kitchen tables. Immigrants have kitchen tables,” Abughazaleh said. “Democrats have been messaging on this issue, which is basic human decency, wrong this entire time. It’s a two-pronged thing. When it comes to extremism, if you’re constantly ceding ground that trans people don’t deserve to exist, or that there are carve-outs for that … it never stops with the people that you deem inhuman, it will always come to you.”

I would love to be a proud patriot and say "them foreigners don't understand us" but no they've got it exactly right, that is precisely what happened and why, including why the same politicians who spent years courting investment from Korean companies suddenly cheered its destruction.

there's a weird feedback loop where the media's reaction to kirk's death pushes you to speak more ill of the dead than you otherwise would because it's the only reasonable response to the simpering praise they're heaping on him

I had no wish for him to be murdered, but I’ll harshly judge anyone who flies their flag at half staff for that hateful extremist or talks about honoring his memory. There was no honor in his life.
