As well as spending twice as much per capita as the UK their life expectancy is several years worse than ours. The difference is that a huge chunk of the money they spend is syphoned off in profit.

I’ve seen a convincing article by a dementia expert suggesting that the symptoms he presents are more indicative of fronto temporal dementia than vascular dementia (perhaps he has that too).

In the UK we don’t treat habitual criminals that badly, let alone innocent children

If the people owning guns is necessary to protect them from an authoritarian government then why has the US so many guns AND an authoritarian government?

I remember the day (and Hungerford before that). I like guns, but am very glad we’re not allowed to have them. As a volunteer for the ambulance service I’ve knocked on nearly 2500 doors, and never once had the slightest fear that I might get shot.

There are many amazing people who are deserving of awards who don’t get them, and many people who do get them who are completely undeserving of them. I can’t imagine why anyone would want an award with the word empire in the title anyway. Scrap the lot.
