I listened to this today and it was fascinating. An interesting finding was that people who use alternative transportation for as little 5% of trips may be more likely to show an interest in car-free living. Even small changes to infrastructure or transit accessibility can have an impact.

Branded cutout of an X.com post by Senadora Julie Gonzales, with the text "Trump chose reckless escalation with no real plan to protect people from the fallout. Now his admin is talking about taxpayer-funded insurance for tankers, military escorts, and tapping the SPR after gas prices are already rising. We should not have to pay for this incompetence." Reacting to an X.com post by Jesse Aaron Paul that reads, "NEW: Energy Secretary Chris Wright, during Colorado stop, warns that high gas prices could last weeks." Link to article by the Colorado Sun.
Branded graphic that reads, "Colorado was built by working people. It's time Washington works for us."
Posting this here as well because it’s important. When leaders choose war, chaos, or cruelty, ordinary people are the ones who pay the price.

The US Is Counting Traffic Deaths Wrong
By emphasizing the number of people killed per mile rather than deaths per capita, traffic safety groups risk normalizing the factors that make American roads so deadly.
Americans drive a lot more than people in other rich countries.
If we didn’t drive so much, we wouldn’t die in so many crashes.
It’s a simple point, but one that NHTSA, traffic engineers, and many road safety org’s have yet to learn.

In January, we went inside the Dilley detention center. Children shared letters describing the anguish of being ripped from their lives: propub.li/4cUHm8L
After publishing that story, we learned about Edison, a 13-year-old from Chicago detained for 2+ months. Listen to Edison in his own words 👇

The two things most likely to kill children are being shot or being killed in crash. What would you do to mitigate those two for public health?

7 year old daughter: Actually Dad you should pick gray. It’s closer to that.

This is the second time in my lifetime our country has gone to war in the Middle East over the guise of an imminent threat of weapons of mass destruction in my lifetime.
The last time we did this in Iraq ~150,000 - 200,000 civilians died in the conflict.
War is a horrible thing.

The Denver airport paid $14.5M for a glowing sign. A decade later, it’s not looking great
Malfunctioning lights, cheap-looking screens and disappointing ad sales.
The welcome sign at DIA was billed as a technologically groundbreaking LED display with almost 1,000 brightly colored rods — a piece of art befitting one of the busiest airports in the world.
Instead, a decade after it was first proposed, the sign has been nothing but problems for the airport.

Trump Administration Actions on Gun Violence So Far
The Trump administration is advancing an extreme “guns everywhere” agenda with real consequences for our communities.
Gun violence takes nearly 130 lives and wounds over 200 more every day. But instead of strengthening our nation’s gun laws, Trump has done everything in his power to dismantle them, putting even more lives at risk.
Ahead of tonight’s #SOTU, learn more about Trump’s abysmal record on gun violence:
