From 1975 to 1978, Mississippi's Delta State University dominated the women's game, winning three straight titles. Star Lusia Harris, one of the school's first Black students, became a key player in the first U.S. Olympic team, which won the silver medal in the 1976 Olympics.

Just a quick book signing reminder, for those of you in the D.C. area.

As we head to our book signing in DC, we're reminded of Chris Weller, who coached at Maryland from 1975 to 2002. Frustrated by a lack of opportunity at home, Weller helped to organize a college club team and "felt like I grew and found myself." She ended up in the Hall of Fame.

Women's basketball thrived in Philadelphia, with the Catholic church a prominent supporter. Drawing on local players that included Marianne Crawford, Theresa Shank (below, left) and Rene Muth, Immaculata College won three straight national championships from 1972-74.
