At least Tommy Robinson is played by a real person. They're stealing jobs from natural born racist dickheads!

The way you've captured the nuances of each season's character just through the expression - perfection! π
Yes! Worry more about your toots, less about your glutes...(that might need some workshoppingπ)
Also very good spread on buttered toast! If you drink alcohol, can also recommend swigging a can of gin and tonic on a train, or in a public park.
More proof that we're living in the future π
Only one way to find out...
I'm in almost the same boat, want a copy so much but shipping in Canada is almost as much as the book itself. And that's for Canada Post? I can't justify $50 in my budget right now, but will put it on my birthday list!
Seems people don't realize that if you're chatting to the AI, all the footage is going straight to Meta.
(And underpaid workers in the global South are being forced to watch you poop.)
If I'm remembering right, it's the name of their band? Ergo Alvin would be a chipmunk (species), but not a Chipmunk (supporting band member). Unless Hootie is also a Blowfish... also the lyrics, which Alvin sings, are 'WE'RE the chipmunks' - which rather muddies the waters. Science is hard.
Thanks for sharing! Makes total sense - I think sometimes well-intentioned advice about marketable concepts can get in the way of finding your voice.
I'd love to hear more about that - what have been your biggest shifts in thinking?
Thrilled to see the Greens triumph over the guys who saw the current state of the US and said, yeah baby, gimme some of that.
And it wouldn't be British politics if the top minor candidate wasn't named Oink A Lot.
Have you seen Dangerous Animals? Pretty fun as a killer movie with sharks, without being a killer shark movie...
If you need a giggle this morning!
Five women writers by whom I've read at least five books:
Kate Atkinson
Tana French
Elly Griffiths @ellygriffiths.bsky.social
Kate Summerscale
Margaret Atwood @margaretatwood.bsky.social
Now to overthink all the amazing writers I've overlooked, or who came in just under the threshold...
Over on threads someone just use ai;dr and we all need to adopt that right quick
This is a great listen. I'm unendingly fascinated by grifters - though, arguably, the industries that enable them are most deserving of scrutiny.
But, I actually came here to laugh/cry at the algo now recommending me Raynor Winn's latest audiobook π

New world speed record: screenwriters everywhere running to their laptops.

Just based on the fact you've done the work, you're a better writer than you think π
I'm based in Canada, so I ended up ordering through Good Ereader. Was $499 US including a case.
I've had it for around a year, no issues as yet. My only small bugbear is it's a little slow to boot up when you first switch on.
Yeah, I like it for making notes on scripts. I mostly use the built in neoreader for PDFs, but it seems to handle most third party apps pretty well.
I love my Boox Note Air - think it was the 4C. I didn't want to be locked in to a subscription/closed ecosystem, so I like that it runs on Android.
You give awesome notes! Clear, kind and actionable - the perfect combo. Thank you for being so generous with your talents π
Oh, well now I want to see that remake!
That's a tough one! Fewer big romcom roles out there than in the early Diaz days...tentative vote for Joey King?
People look at me like I need a tin foil hat when I say I'd never get a Ring cam, but seriously. Stop paying your own money to install surveillance tech on your private property. Or your own body, for that matter. This was always going to happen.
Tired I am so tired of waiting, Aren't you, For the world to become good And beautiful and kind? Let us take a knife And cut the world in two - And see what worms are eating At the rind. Langston Hughes
Poem by Wendell Berry entitled Real Work: It may be that when we no longer know what to do we have come to our real work, and that when we no longer know which way to go we have come to our real journey. The mind that is not baffled is not employed. The impeded stream is the one that sings.
Thanks to @prisonculture.bsky.social (via her critical newsletter) for reminding me of this timely poem from Wendell Berry, entitled Real Work.
