Glad to see the state legislature rejecting the Uber/Hochul plan to prohibit certain victims of traffic violence from recovering money for their injuries.

The only saving grace is that these sociopaths have demonstrated an ability to make large payments for car-related expenses. So they're not getting out of a lawsuit without a serious personal contribution.
These drivers pay more in ANNUAL speeding tickets than the amount of insurance they are required by the state to have to compensate their victims ($25k, which is a joke of a minimum; hasn't changed since 1996; today, perforce of simple inflation, it should be double that).
They misspelled "Chuck Schumer."

I genuinely don't think most elderly republicans understand the party they're now a member of. These students are the base of Trumpism.
This is incredible writing, and by reading it I learned more than I care to admit.
Also the timing of this for ATIC couldn't be worse. Two years ago, it was reported that DFS had ordered them to take “immediate action” to cure its insolvency and should “explore all possible options to obtain funding." Haven't seen any new funding reported since.

This is very significant. Lots to process but on first glance this decision would seem to shift the cost of insuring Uber's liability from Uber to its drivers (since ATIC would have to raise drivers' premia to cover this "new" liability).

I agree, quite apart from the merits of the case. Alito could only defend the Supreme Court's authority to intervene by grievously misrepresenting the facts. The reality is that there's no plausible argument SCOTUS had the power to do what it did. Why didn't that matter to six justices?

I am beginning to think that the administration didn't prepare for the war they unlawfully started.
I can 100% see the appeal. It can be impossible to get mental health treatment when you HAVE INSURANCE, to say nothing of those who lack coverage. It's just striking that we're left to figure out how to support people who are being victimized by tech the gov't is saying no one is allowed to regulate

Miller's plan worked, but only worked because of Paul Weiss (et al). The orders were self-evidently unlawful at issuance and admin knew that. So did PW.
But admin just needed some firms to choose peace with the regime (= $$$) over the rule of law. Incredibly, PW and others were happy to oblige.
