A good way to understand something better is to go broader. To help students see that everything inside the computer is stored as a number, rather than just looking at text, images and sound, why not include other things such as programs, dates and times?

That's the reason that I made an octal page, and my hexadecimal page has more than two digits - further examples to test the students' generalised knowledge of number bases.

It was obviously part of the reason. Probably the biggest reason.
This should be required reading for anyone who doesn't work in an actual school but feels the need to insert themselves into the AI in Education conversation.
It's also a great read for those working in schools!
