Demonstrate to China's trading partners, i.e. the world, that they are willing & able to protect world trade.

Iran Isn’t β€˜Flailing’ β€” It’s Executing a Coercive Risk Strategy β€’ Stimson Center Understanding Iran’s military strategy in response to Operation Epic Fury.

Highly recommend this one, by @kellygrieco.bsky.social. Very astute and insightful analysis that makes it clear Iran considers the global economy by way of the Gulf states, and not Israel, the enemy's center of gravity.

Given that the president of the US has invited Chinese warships, no bluster is required.
Xi is probably too cautious, but sending warships would demonstrate that China is ready to physically replace the US as hegemon.

You might be misunderstanding me. China would trip the US, not Iran. The Chinese PLAN blocking the USN might be enough of a security guarantee for Iran to open the strait.

China might, to displace the US as the guarantor of freedom of navigation. A Chinese trip-wire might convince Iran to relent.

Doesn't Iran want meaningful concessions before opening the strait? Why would they set themselves up for another round of attacks?

Base Democratic voters have no obligation to support racist candidates. We ask a lot of our base, but not that much. Frankly no Democrat should vote for a racist.

Modern farming, especially small scale, is heavily dependent on electrification (pumps, lights, heaters, etc.). It is entirely a product of industrial production and corporations. Those products are what can make it nice work and economical.

The leftist impulse to normalize the Trump administration is bizarre. An Iran war draft is on the table, Leavitt could not have been more clear. Trump can't achieve his goals regardless, but he certainly needs far more soldiers to protect the strait of Hormuz.

Donald Trump is dragging the United States into a war the American people do not want. Let me be clear: I am opposed to a regime-change war in Iran, and our troops are being put in harm’s way for the sake of Trump’s war of choice.

The Democratic primary electorate is more engaged & less than 20% of the general. Targeted communication is cheaper & more effective than mass communication in that case.

Yes, effects vanish after two weeks. Crockett ran a disciplined campaign & held her fire till this week, to effect the primary next week. Ads on Feb 9 would have been a waste. Early vote is GOTVed vote, driven more by ground than TV.

Political ads have little persuasive power In a new Yale co-led study focusing the 2016 presidential campaign, television ads were found to have virtually no influence on how people plan to vote.

Not really. TV ads can boost name recognition, which Talarico needed & Crockett doesn't. Ad effects are short-lived.
Given a smaller, more engaged primary electorate other interventions are more effective.

The article tries to make that case. But most TV in a primary is a waste of money. Crockett effectively exploited a number of Talarico's mis-steps. "Success in on-the-ground-campaigning in Texas" is not a disorganized campaign. Articles quoting only anonymous critics can be dismissed as hit pieces.
