FPGAs soldered, hereβs the current state of the additional DAB boards!
Goinβ live in just under two hours for my annual 12 hour stream! :3
Mmm, FPGAs⦠|3
It's this dog's Birthday tomorrow and I'll be doing a 12 hour stream starting at 10am PDT / 1pm EDT / 5pm GMT!
I'll be hosting a mix of games, projects and with a bit of luck, VRChat!
Hope to see y'all there! Watch at twitch.tv/RetroHoosk
With commercial shortwave broadcasting dying a death, we should totally just make the whole band a wild west for hobbyists.
Now that would make for some fun scanning!
Alrighty! All set for AC2025! The hype is real! :D
Yupyup, so 174-240Mhz, which would be VHF iirc.
I am experimenting with how much I can get away with.
Having completely vacant spectrum for this and no one here with a compatible receiver has its advantages. :3
(would definitely need a killswitch for border crossings lmfao)
Now I have learned how to build DAB transmitters, intrusive ideas are getting into my head...such as building one with a self-contained SoC for webstream pulling/encoding and a 5G cell radio in order to integrate it into my car as a mobile transmitter.
Totally legitimate operation, naturally.
hello, at&t longlines π
Also thank you! β€οΈ
For sure, I used to use VRCLens a long while back but just using the built-in cam controls right now.
Itβs a bit fiddly dialing βem in but yeah, practice makes perfect! :3
Yeah, I -finally- took some time on Sunday to do some VR photos. :3
Ahh well to be fair to ya, I didn't really make much of a song and dance of going as it was just up the road from me hahah
Where's this dog gonna go?
Awh heckie, I'll have to catch you next time!~
Doggo standing on guard at the transmission tower. :3 #VRChat
Kinda nuts to be a 10 minute walk away from my house and receive a digital radio signal from a board I put together piece by piece.
Not to mention the silliness of picking up the BBC over the air 8 time zones away from the UK.
Thanks for all the new memories this weekend. I will think about these on my long flight back homeβ€οΈ Awruff

It was so lovely seeing you Daff, thank you for the memories and see ya at LVFC!
Hiya! Anyone in the SF Bay Area/Remote need a cool programmer for your team? I've been messing with computers for over 30 years now, I can program anything with bits, and I've got a lot of experience with all sorts of different systems, environments, and languages.

Well I just got to #Vancoufur2026 and weβre off to a strong start
A photo of an old analogue CRT television, showing a 1990s BBC 2 ident. Alongside are 4 TV channel generators, one for each of BBC 1, BBC 2, ITV Central, and Channel 4.
We may have the only analogue CRT television still receiving four channels π
Each channel has Teletext of course...
BBC 1 β‘οΈ Ceefax East Midlands
BBC 2 β‘οΈ Ceefax World Service
Central β‘οΈ Spark
C4 β‘οΈ Chunkytext
Awoo, happy borkday Shep! :D
CRA processed my paper filed return within 4 days of receiving it. No income tax objection needed this year, so that's a relief. xD
Oooh fair! Well Iβm still down! My Radio 4 feed sounder a bit iffy hahah.
Sure! Iβd be interested, buuut because Iβm using the old DAB standard I have to mostly use 128k MP2β¦
But doing a super HQ old DAB station would be an interesting test.
In production in the UK, it never went beyond 192k, where BBC Radio 3 got the premium treatment no other station got.
A'ight we back on with #GlobalTalk! #MARCHintosh
