Thought I'd try out something different today and wear a new shirt to work. After:
4x "Miss are you wearing PJs"
2x "It's giving Candycane"
2 x "Where's Wally"
1 x "Why is she dressed as a deck chair?" And
1 x "Miss, did your team win their match"
It's safe to say this shirt will be banished πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ˜‚

We still quote "NOONE CARES THAT ITS NOVEMBER" to my daughter after her meltdown at 12 at our suggestion that a crop top and no coat probably wasn't the best choice for bonfire night πŸ˜‚

Can someone teach the BBC Presenters how to pronounce the town names they are talking about. Incredibly rude. Could you imagine them saying Worcester, Leicester or Ely wrong.

Absolutely gutted by the news about John Prescott. An absolute inspiration!

... clearly not consenting. I have no doubt with the shame that comes with teen pregnancy, that had it been possible, I would have been forced into a back-street abortion. My daughter wouldn't be here, and I likely would have faced the same consequences that we saw pre 1967. This isn't pro-life.

A reminder that the right to choose goes both ways, and that legal safe access to abortion protects both women who want/need one, and those who don't. At 16 some family members tried to force me to have abortion I didn't want. The only way to do this was via the doctor, who stopped it as I was...

I've started using mail merge for feedback sheets, like why did I never think to use this function before! Years of handwriting or colour coding feedback πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

Headlines from the Independent and Mirror about NEF's new analysis on the two-child limit

Headlines from the Independent and Mirror about NEF's new analysis on the two-child limit

Great coverage of @neweconomics.bsky.social analysis by @sam-tims.bsky.social arguing that the two-child limit debate is failing to recognise the wider economic benefits of scrapping the policy

Alleviating poverty, particularly for children, should be seen as a sound investment - here's why... 🧡

Every time someone online says that kids in schools should just be able to get up and go to the toilet whenever, they should be put onto the toilet duty rota at their local secondary

This is your annual reminder that Labour Party conference happens at a time when a huge part of the public sector cannot attend. Decisions will be made about Education Policy with very few of us that are in the classroom having an input.

Well not so much with the baby, he doesn't care. But my 14 year old has experienced both lifestyles, my 7 year old can only remember one and you can tell.

This is quite interesting to see from the child's perspective. Husband and I have very middle class jobs, but grew up in poverty. We are both tight when it comes to certain things (me more so!). There's 7 years between each of my kids and you can already see the difference in experience/approach too

We're all back at work and school tomorrow and the 6 month old is waking consistently in the night still. From 3am is a write off in terms of sleep. I don't have a PPA until Friday πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Anyone have any tips on surviving teaching sleep deprived (or even better some miracle to make the baby sleep!)

I completely agree with it in principle (I did my dissertation on it 10 years ago because I heavily agree with the concept!), I just have reservations about how simplistic it would really be if implemented at the current rate suggested, because top ups would go beyond greater or complex needs

My big concern is often when political parties put this forward it's often at a lower level than somebody would need to live. Great for those who are able to work, but not for those who can't at those levels. If you add an extra benefit for those, then you lose the benefits of the simple system

At 17 I was pregnant and homeless. The major reason I am where I am now is because I had solid GCSEs to fall back on. They gave me access to further education and the confidence that I could do something about my situation!!

Good to see the Telegraph taking part in the annual GCSEs don't matter, whilst having a wealth of other connections to get them through. Stop telling working class kids their grades don't matter, they might not for middle class kids, but they do for working class kids without network to fall back on

I don't want to speak too soon, but in summer school this year, the incoming Year 7s were much more resilient and independent than in previous years. I think – I hope – things might be levelling out again...

@lianedavies.bsky.social for ICC?

22.08.2024 05:39 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Absolutely. The average person does not care for Left or Right, or ideology. They just want to see, or trust that, jobs are being done (even if they don't like how it's being done) and that services are there. When they aren't it gives groups like the far right the opening to blame and recruit
