Undignified.
When a federal judge (finally) put ICE officers under oath, they admitted that they are given daily detention quotas and rely heavily on a Palantir-supplied AI tool to select targets, without warrants and without enough evidence to obtain one. They simply go into neighborhoods and round people up.

In the wake of the "QuitGPT" wave of conscientious objectors, I wrote about how all hyperscalers are creeps and grifters, and how their Gen AI products are specifically going to make your life suck over the next 18 months before the industry implodes medium.com/@patchgaley/...
In a divided, disconnected, and dehumanizing world, to seek change can seem overwhelming. You don't have to do all the things; take one step, one thing that moves you in the direction of a better world. Divine love will be with you.
This is your general periodic reminder that Congressional Republicans could stop this (gestures at everything) any time. Seriously, any time. In fact, it's their job to check the president. They're shirking their duties.
What does it mean for us being human when a massacre does not stop you in your tracks? In this essay I examine the various ways in which scholars have tried to imagine the undoing of the endless night of the Zong, the undoing of a world we cannot live within.

The malaise is because so much is shitty and it feels like you canβt do anything about it, and the answer is EXACTLY what Dylan is suggesting. To exercise agency and build connections.
Hi! Send me your question(s).

The world could be such a nice place if we allowed it. It's all so goddamn unnecessary. There's no need for any of it. It's so beautiful here. It should be so cool to be alive
U.S. military spending is set to hit a record $1.5 trillion.
Roughly half of defense spending goes to private contractors that routinely price-gouge the government.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon has failed EIGHT straight audits.
The military industrial complex is cheering today.
I picked my seminary for other reasons, but when I found out that Rev. Jackson was an alum, it was further confirmation that I was in the right place.

I fully lost my mind this is the funniest thing Iβve ever heard???????????
In Ps. 31:24 today: 'be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the Lord.' These days require courage to seek the truth, live by facts, and act responsibly. Cultivate a strong inner life. Make the peace bigger than the chaos. Courage is my work today.
For years I've told the joke: You know what's so great about hitting yourself in the head with a hammer? It feels so good when you stop.
We need a solid building trades program so that these guys can learn the right way to look good with a hammer.
I feel this so strongly. Covid was a test of our moral integrity & decency -- *not just elites, but all of us* -- and we failed.
I genuinely think one reason Covid has been memory-holed so hard, & so crusted w/ myths & conspiracy theories, is that on some level we know this & are ashamed.
All right, the dogs want walks but it's raining so I'm procrastinating. Gonna do a thread that's been on my mind for a long while, about exactly what "never again" means.
"Never again" got famous after the Holocaust & it's frequently deployed since--in response to, say, the US Japanese internment.
Iβm a longtime fan of Terry Pratchett and lamented the end of new Discworld novels. This week I realized that I had missed the Tiffany Aching books and bought the boxed set. So happy.
Same goes for guilt and fear.
βTwo Magiciansβ for pairs would be a helluva program.

The writers for this season are just phoning it in now.
In Ps.36:9: 'Within you is the spring of life. In your light, we see light.' Light does not come only to the powerful. Light blesses all. Light turns to sugar to produce fruit. Lent is a season to examine life and fruit. Solidarity with the vulnerable. Light is my work today.
Mia Valentina Paz Faria A 7-year-old from Venezuela who was living in Austin, Texas Detained for 70 days βI donβt want to be in this place I want to go to my school.β
UPDATE: Staff at the ICE concentration camp in Dilley, Texas have begun raiding the dormitories of kids and their parents to confiscate and destroy letters from the children. This is in response to the ace reporting by @micarosenberg et al for ProPublica:
βI donβt want to be in this place I want to go to my school.β
- 7 year old imprisoned by ICE for 70 days in a concentration camp in Texas.
Today, after @propublica.org published this story, the camp was raided to confiscate letters from the children.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. Itβs always a matter of will not resources.
In Ps.41:12 today: 'You support me in my integrity...' Integrity, wholeness, isn't arrived at but a direction. God sustains that movement in grace & love. Deeper love of neighbor is needed now. Integrity between word & action. Wholeness & healing. Integrity is my work today.
