Well. Operation Mincemeat - it's a bit good, isn't it? Just got home from watching it at the Theatre Royal in Bath. Absolutely awesome performance.

The recipe says lamb, but it works well with mutton. Also, any curry goat recipe.
It absolutely does. We kinda detached from the SU sometime in the 2010s, I think, when we realised we had way more non-students than students, but we still use (an evolution of) the same ruleset and game world. And even a few players and characters that date back to that era.
Imaginatively named BathLARP!
Your local LARP club runs every Sunday ;-)
Ran out of mincemeat for mince pies, so in the process of putting together another batch. Means that the mince pies for Christmas day will be a bit young, but at least I'll be ready for next year!
Mexican version of the F1 theme sounds a lot like it should be on the Monkey Island soundtrack.
Signs of getting older: Staying in a hotel rather than camping when attending a whole-weekend LARP, and still needing to spend most of the following day asleep.
And that's without having worn armour for the weekend!
Just got one of those, and wow, best purchase of the year by far!

I'm so very sorry to hear this. My deepest condolences.
Sorry but I just don't feel comfortable sharing public toilets with transphobes. At any moment they could just demand to have a look at my gennies. The law should protect women's spaces from these creeps.
Megathread of pro-trans petitions on Parliamentβs petition website. If Labour suddenly gets hit with debates for a bunch of pro-trans petitions, maybe theyβll realise this issue isnβt going away and theyβve fucked up.
Iβll add more as I find them.

I used to see him performing in Bath all the time - good to know he's still going!
I'd have to go with My Heart Will Go On, but I have specific reasons for hating it.
(The guy in the room next to me in my first year of uni would put it on LOUD, on repeat, and then would often go out for a few hours without turning it off.)
Shortly before he died, Terry Pratchett assured me that, if there is an afterlife, he would give me a ring and let me know. That was ten years ago - and still no call. From which, incidentally, I draw no firm conclusions. What if there was an afterlife, but with no phone signal? But of course there is one place where Terry indisputably lives on: in the pages of his books and in the minds of the millions of readers around the world who turn those pages and continue to find them funny and true. For, while his words live on, so does Terry, and that will be the case, no question, not just for this one decade so quickly gone, but for many further decades to come. So let me join Lyn and Rhianna in raising a glass today to the magical persistence of books and to Sir Terry; gone but still so very firmly with us. Rob Wilkins
Keep hydrated!
It's days like these that I deeply regret that decision, all those years ago, to run my own mail server.
I _think_ I've finally got the new version of the mailing list software working right now, with all lists migrated, but I'm gonna need to keep an eye on it for a bit. Only took two days...
Making a recipe from the Dishoom cookbook for the first time. Rapidly coming to the conclusion that I need to plan further ahead if I want to avoid having to make a ridiculous number of substitutions - our local supermarkets just don't have the ingredients, even with my well-stocked spice cupboard.
Fingers crossed for a quick recovery!
Happy Hogswatch everyone! We've had a nice relaxing day at the in-laws, helping the younger nibling experience his first Christmas. There was much cuteness.
I'd say that's exactly the problem with stochastic parrots - they copy the expression of the ideas, not the ideas themselves.
The owl got me to the point where I managed a 90 minute conversation with a taxi driver in Spain, covering such topics as electric cars, comparisons between British and Spanish ciders, and international politics. So I'm quite fond of the little green bully these days!
Nine years to the day since seeing Bellowhead in Bath on their farewell tour - we're seeing them in Bath tonight, supported by The Longest Johns. Looking forward to a fun (and loud) evening!
