Today, Rothenburg still looks like it is stuck in the middle ages. No modern buildings are permitted within the old city wall, and frequent historic festivals add to the atmosphere. There is no better place for inspiration when making a medieval fantasy game.
Like Kuttenberg, the imperial city of Rothenburg was directly under royal rule, and at the time, it was one of the largest cities in the Holy Roman Empire.
Two knightly orders resided here - the Teutonic Knights and the Knights of St John.
So that is what I do when not working on the game 😃
If Henry had taken the short trip from Bohemia to neighboring Franconia, he could have watched a medieval tavern being built here in Rothenburg in 1420.
The tavern is now dilapidated, but most of its original substance is still there. I decided to completely restore it 😃
