Very happy to be among the authors of this paper on a new methodology for ascertaining scientific opinion and extent of expert agreement. (And an ErdΓΆs number of 4 is a nice bonus.)

This week's Philosophy Questions:
1. Can societies filled with individualists ever work?
2. Is the herd mentality a natural phenomenon that holds our societies together?
3. Are groups merely placid & mediocre, or also highly dangerous?
4. Can we ever grow as a group, or only as an individual?
"References (attached) say Iβm a 'Renaissance Man,' an unsurpassed polymath, the most curious man who ever lived. But the title I covet most is customer service associate."
Congratulations to the many philosophers β @shannonvallor.bsky.social, Thi Nguyen, Jonathan Birch @birchlse.bsky.social, Nita Farahay,

several R states voted for progressive policies. paid sick time off passed in NE and MO. abortion protections by themselves were more popular than the Dems. I followed the independent candidate Dan Osborn in NE closely - the dem brand is dead, not its ideas. we need candidates with better βvibesβ
Anything by Ted Chiang
getting so many new follows in the last few days β welcome!
Exactly. Voters didnβt trust the Dems to be reliably for those issues and believed the GOP is not worst on those. I think we are seeing people voting more on cultural aesthetics of the parties because theyβve realized that the parties donβt stand for much else.
Itβs like Elon wants everyone to join Bluesky lol

Ah, I've been thinking about this all day now, and I want to reiterate how happy I am for you! What a relief to see you in a permanent position - it is SO WELL DESERVED. Leeds is lucky to have you.
Congratulations Josh!!! This is great news (to me at least). Iβm so glad labor laws actually worked the way they were supposed
Also, is this something that might be of interest to you?

Is this for your book project on work? I don't know this literature at all, but I am interested in how you've been thinking about this!
Evelyn Fox Keller has died. It is a great loss.

Last year I bit the bullet & invested in a Steelcase Leap V2 for my home office. Spending that much money on a single chair seemed a little obscene but I can now report that it is worth every penny! I can work at my desk for hours without back or shoulder pain. Is this what getting old is like?
βI am not saying that women will do a different kind of science,β Evelyn Fox Keller told The Boston Globe in 1986. βI am saying when there are more women in science, everybody will be free to do a different kind of science.β π§ͺ
I used to listen to Damien Rice all the time (wonder what he's up to these days)! Didn't realize there was an Ed Sheeran connection.
Thank you! π
Amazing - is there a paper also? Can I read it?
