the official halo modding tools have issues with wine too but at least they're easy to work around and doesn't justify needing to make an entire vm for it
the vm is on a hard drive because i only use it for a few halo modding tools that heavily rely on .net and will crash and burn on wine (reclaimer and assembly) and ssds are expensive
updating a windows 10 vm that i have installed to a mechanical hard drive has to be one of the most painful experiences on planet earth it takes SO LONG

something i will say about alan wake 2 is that the game looks really fucking good, even on low settings
yes the game uses raytracing for lighting and reflections but remedy did a good job at regular lighting and screen space reflections (except for mirrors)
raytracing is still forever inefficient because what the fuck do you mean we can't do mirrors that just duplicate the room in games anymore
why are you so god damn lazy
mesh shaders is a really cool technology and unlike raytracing, it's actually more efficient to do it this way over traditional methods
the problem is without the hardware, it's SIGNIFICANTLY more inefficient
