OK. I have some a personal reasearch archive of some 17,000 magazines and access to loads of other systems. Mostly I do music/musician research but sometimes it's fun to look for other people!

Doing this today is just cut/paste on a keyboard. Doing it in 1957 required hours of time to get everything just right on the release master tape and required actually cutting separate tapes, splicing together and overdubbing.

On one "Plays 4 Altos" - Zoot accompanied himself, mostly sparingly.

This was one of many technical achievements that Creed Taylor has never been recognized for.

A full 6-years before the #creedtaylor produced Grammy Hall Of Fame album by #billevans "Conversations With Myself" was released to both critical acclaim and attacked for being a gimmick.

Creed quietly took a chance on two albums with #zootsims - both albums used a form of overdubbing

and finally he made it possible for a lot of musicians, including Wes, to make a lot of money Wes, Grover, Benson, Esther P. Freddie Hubbard, Bob James and many others.

Smokin' At The Half Note is a point in case, otherwise noisy, boxy recording was rescued by otherwise expensive studio overdubs.

There are a lot of justified and unjustified complaint about Creed's productions. Two takeaways, he took a lot of chances and made more Grammy Hall Of Fame records than any other producer until recently. Also he was a king of innovation but has been completely overlooked by the Grammys.

I should have done it more. My kid just got her first car, she has grown in leaps and bounds from the freedom it has given her.

I'm really disappointed in that I know that she could have had this for the last 4-years if she'd been more comfortable riding the bus. See also ebikes.

We dumped Evernote 5-7 years ago. We exported everything to html, kept backup copies of the Evernote files just in case.

We use Google docs and drive export to pdf. Technology has moved on. We use an windows app called filelocator pro to build a search index it's find is faster and better

Getting ready for a new build of my music magazine and books index. A lot of work this time on rescanning books and creating the Polish issues of Jazz Forum magazine from poorly scanned jpg files.

Still pretty fast for advanced Boolean searches, 16,800 books/magazines searched in less than 1-sec

It's Ronnie's birthday on April 1st, time for the annual pilgrimage down to Trinidad CO to leave flowers on his grave. Plonk - gone but not forgotten.

It's a 3-hour drive each way on I-25, playing his music up loud all the way.

Went to see Fiona Apple in Tampa maybe 20-years ago, she was the opening act for Coldplay. Enough said.

Not sure this is the best of CTI by a long way, it's still a fun CD box set. Entering it on @discogsofficial.bsky.social is a chore though.
