5pm on November 1: letβs go for a walk, itβs still light out!
5pm on November 2: an early darkness blankets the land. Fallow fields lay bone-bleached by moonlight. The last memories of summer fade into oblivion. The last echoes of hope lapse into baleful silence.

I am still obsessed with this book and re-read once a year - the tension, the setting, the ATMOSPHERE. My 21 year old self probably would have found Max irresistible, but this old lady would run for the hills if I saw him coming now, lol!
