When I teach this stuff I get people to put their hands up if they've never tried to read and understand something important when they're tired, sick or hung over.

A rich text this, my favourite being the use of the word 'Karens' to describe commodities traders.
Might have to amend 'all stories are about management, other than the ones that are about commodities' to 'all stories are actually about people's weird views on gender'.

Narratively having Ever Given getting stuck in 2021 to set up Hormuz in 2026 is great foreshadowing. You want your audience to understand the basics of international shipping in a lower stakes context so you drop the real plot without a lot of saggy exposition about the minutiae of cargo logistics.

A story I have told a lot of times was training I did for medical patient writing.
"Patients might be ESL, they might have a grade 4 reading level, but you know else struggles with complex, compound sentences? You, at 3am sitting in emergency with chest pain!"

How falling battery costs are igniting race for round-the-clock solar power
Outside Abu Dhabi, a vast area of desert is being carpeted with solar panels.
Make sure your loved ones aren't operating on out of date priors about intermittent renewables: tell them batteries are now an economical supplement generating full time dispatchable power from them.

Also I am reasonable swayed by the argument that it pushes us away from thinking about upstream/root cause thinking.
Which is not to say that it wouldn't have its own trade offs, but that it focuses on a single decision maker at a point & avoids any discussion of how they were placed in there.

No they won't, it's one of the most standard stories playing out yet again ("fascist liar wins over the petit bourgeois, mainline conservatives think they can control him, the left are focused on fighting liberals, and liberals underestimate the stupidity and venality of mainline conservatives")
