You can see him out and about in the world, too. I heard him on a run recently, but couldn't find him and didn't want my team to get too far away from me

This fifth and final panel has only a small strip of white still remaining at the very bottom of the panel. The black is not completely filled at the very bottom, and a great deal more texture shows through the roughly applied paint. The visible collage elements do not appear to contain any coherent message.

These frames are only roughly set, and each photo was taken by placing the panel into the same frame, on the same spot on the table, to get an idea of how they might look together. The paintings themselves are not finished and have not been cleaned or treated, so some photos may show some blemishes.

This fourth panel shows the black area covering about 80% of the panel. Some collage elements are visible just above the line- text that is not quite fully legible, but in context, appears to read: "HEAR SEE FEEL TASTE", with the final word in the series being the most covered. Additional text, barely legible below the line appears to be disconnected numbers.

The first and last paintings are the most extreme, and also carry the most additional markings in the collage layers and the adornment that comes from the level of texture in the covering black paint. Each painting has a little bit of text or color or deliberately translucent areas.

This third panel is divided directly in the middle. Clearly visible, though slightly covered, is the title-case phrase "A Pivotal Year". Some color and clipped elements of text are visible near the dividing line.

The dividing line of each painting is adorned with a thin application of bright red, orange, and yellow, mixed roughly in overlapping and blending parts. Near each division, some collage elements are visible underneath the top layers of paint.

This second panel has a larger black area that covers about 20% of the panel. Some flecks of color are visible in the collage layers below, and the very edges of some text, but no words or symbols are immediately legible.

Each panel is primarily black and white, with black on top and white on the bottom. Each successive panel has more and more black that is "falling" from the top of the respective painting, progressively encroaching more and more onto the empty space.

I'll know more tomorrow... or maybe more likely, the day after. And then more the day after that. And on and on.

And just like always, I'll share what I can, when I can.

Like the operation in 2023, this allows removal of new concerning growths they might find. But that is not necessarily permanent treatment. Of course, it might also reveal a serious situation that requires yet more care.

There's some in between that is also concerning, but in different ways.

I am glad I am getting this treatment early, even if it's just a few months sooner than insurance normally allows/mandates. Really, the most helpful part is that it is moving apace. Because with my kidney cancer, the time waiting, the confusion, and the absolute fear were the worst parts.

A series of five black and white paintings arrayed in a horizontal line. Each painting has a horizontal separation on the panel, dividing the panel into black (on top) and white (on the bottom).

The first painting on the left has a very thin strip of black at the top, the second a larger area, and the third is split in the middle. The black areas on the fourth and fifth panels encroach further into the bottom, with the final showing barely any white at all.

Though it is hard to tell at this resolution and distance, each painting also has a very thin strip of red/orange/yellow, roughly mixed and blended and overlapping, further dividing the spaces. Some parts of each panel have some measure of blended texture and collage elements that add depth and some occluded messages that refer to the status of each individual panel.

The panels are resting on unopened frame packaging to get an idea of how various framing treatments would look with the series.

You can also see a tiny bit of the photographer's shirt and shadow at the bottom of the photograph.

Colonoscopy tomorrow.

Last year I was notified that growths removed during a 2023 colonoscopy were pre-cancerous. In discussion about this with family I found some history of colon cancer. Then, in Dec and Jan I had some concerning GI symptoms.

So the "3 year" follow-up was hurried up.

"They're crazy. They're sick."

Says a decrepit old man with ever worsening visible sores, whose comb-over is so thinned out that you can see how thoroughly painted orange he is

It really is every fucking accusation with these ghouls.

Very lucky that I have friends I worked with in record stores, nightclubs, and even family who will regularly show me new music.

I'm in a record club that frequently exposes me to new music. And just this week a friend was showing me music from her country that i've never heard before

Here's an idea

All these disconnected, death-worshipping presidents and prime ministers and wannabe kings can have sharp sticks and they can go on a special boat far away from everyone else and grind each other into a fine paste to their heart's content.

None of us want this version of hell.

From the pink painting, I made this background for the weekly Dirtbox Radio flyer and I wanted to share it by itself because I think it's rad as hell. I'm trying to hit late 90's-early 2000's David Carson/Designer's Republic, hyper-processed colors. Also see: Marathon
